Attempted drivers from Dell, Nvidia, and numerous tweaking websites. Attempted to trick laptop into thinking it was using other graphics cards that were relatively compatible. I never get the tv option... and FYI - right click the desktop, select properties, choose settings then advanced. You should have 3 screens. Laptop, Monitor and TV (I only get 'multiple monitors' no matter what I try...) I prefer my other laptops with the ATI chipset; they always work great... maybe I should go with the ati 9000 for this one.
4hours of attempts... no luck. Any ideas?

I do this all the time with my ATI powered laptops... Right click the desktop, select properties, choose settings then advanced. You should have 3 screens. Laptop, Monitor and TV (I only get 'multiple monitors' no matter what I try...) You must have it connected before it will allow you to 'activate it' Once its activated theres a place for you to click to make the s-video / tv output your DEFAULT... Keep in mind that with some media players (windows for example) the movie image will only appear on the default screen- the other screen will be blank. So if you are intending to record to your VCR make sure that your TV is the Default.

Boot up with a Dell Recovery CD to format your hard disk and install a fresh copy of Windows on your laptop.
If you do not have a Recovery CD for your model laptop then you can get one from the Dell WEB site.
You can download the device drivers from Dell WEB site, the support download page. Make sure you select your model desktop or laptop, better still, type in the Service Tag number, it is printed on the label on the bottom of the laptop and on the back or sides of a desktop. (If the Service Tag label is missing then go into the BIOS setting and on one of the BIOS pages, the Service Tag number will be displayed). This will open the page where the specific drivers for your model computer are located. Also make sure you select the Windows of the drivers for your Windows operating system. Click on this link to download the drivers: -
