I don't think that messing with msn. will cause a charging or functioning problem, as most of the time that sort of thing is caused by damage to the power jack on the back of the laptop. Check out this area, and see if the connection seems loose. If so, it can be an expensive repair,as often the motherboard is damaged, and best case, the motherboard has to be removed to solder the connection. There is a possiblity the ac adapter has failed too.
