Question about Maytag SAV5701A Top Load Washer

Water leaking My maytag washer is leaking water during the beginning of the spin cycle. I opened the bottom drawer and water was just splashing all over the place. It looks like it's dripping from the tub but I am not too sure. I checked all tubes but they looked fine. I don't know how to check for the tub seal but if this is the problem, it is worth fixing it? Can it be a simple problem that I can fix? How do I check where the problem is? Thanks for help

Re: water leaking

If the water is leaking at what seems like the beginning of the spin cycle it might be the hose connection to the drain pump or the pump itself. If so, it's a lot easier to fix than the drum seal.

Leaking water on spincycle

I have the same problem with my washer. The problem just began a few weeks ago. It is splashing out the front left corner of the tub and running down the inside of washer and then leaking out the bottom of the frame. It is just enough water to be annoying. The washer is about 6 years old.

if she could open the door during wash cycle the door lock is broken and you may need a new one also inspect pumpn and tub to pump hose for foreign objects

The pumps usually have rubber hoses fitted them and they can deteriorate over time, moreso around the clamps that hold them onto the pump. Also, maybe the pump has been slightly opened via a worn seal. Either way, there may be a risk of fire if any water gets onto the electrical connections of the pump or spray onto any other open electrical connection inside the machine. It would certainly be advisable to have it checked with some urgency.

During the final rinse and spin, I would think the pump may not be used during these cycles.

Hope this helps somewhat.

Leak from maytag top load coin machine during spin drain cycle only

Possible that you would have a tub seal leak if it is only noticable during spin cycle. Possible that it "drips" slightly while in agitation, but not enough to notice it. While in spin mode you have a lot more parts moving as well as a lot more water pressure on the seal itself. Pump could also be leaking, but highly doubtful since it would leak a constant amount at all times. Good Luck!!! Jim
