My ipod won't let me listen to music

Your music is your responsibility. The iPod only syncs from the computer to the iPod unless it's purchased content.
Find your music files, put them in iTunes, follow the instrucitons for restoring your iPod.
BTW, the pictures are really small and are only good for use on your iPod so getting them off of there is usually not of much use.
Use the Five Rs to restore the iPod. You will lose the data that is currently on it if you restore but you can always re-sync the data to the iPod. http://www.apple.com/support/ipod/five_rs/

Do a search for the free Apple application called Senuti.  The software only works for Apple so PC folks stay away.
The ipod is set up by Apple nerds for streaming data from computer to ipod, Senuti (itunes spelled backwards, clever hunh??) reverse streams the data from ipod to computer.  This is great when your computer crashes or you need to reinstall your whole operating system and want to put back all your porn and music on your computer.
