I have a GE Simon 3 wireless home security system. Both the front sensor and motion detector do not work despite replacing the batteries. What is the cause?

- Interestingly, after replacing the batteries, pressing status has system state the zone failure and that it has been tampered with while the cover is off. I can depress the spring switch, and repeat status, and there is no message of tamper for that zone. You'd think if it did not recognize a sensor that it wouldn't know a zone sensor was tampered.
First of all, your system has the ability to by-pass motion sensors and door contacts, glass break sensors etc. You will need to make sure that none of your sensors are by-passed. Secondly, after installing the batteries, your panel probably no longer recognizes the sensor, so it would need to be reprogrammed. Each sensor, since it is wireless emits a different code, so that your panel can destinguish between the various sensors that are installed in your home. Typically, the monitoring company will replace the batteries and reprogram free of charge.

- It would know based on the loss of power from that particular zone..ie: changing the battery, the signal from the sensor stopped, either from a dead battery or from the battery being removed.
hello. i can assist you.
When you install or replace batteries, use the same brand of battery the device currently contains to prevent damage or explosion.
Step 2
Follow the diagram when you install or replace batteries. Align the polarities as they appear in the diagram.
Step 3
Replace the batteries every six months even if they retain their charge. Otherwise you risk battery corrosion.
Step 4. If replacing the batteries does activate the device, remove the battery and clean the contacts with the clean eraser end of a pencil. Make sure the contacts are not bent out giving a poor connection. If necessary bend the contacts in somewhat using a tweezer or other small tool.

I have had a working GE Simon 3 for a couple of years. After a recent house remodel, I noticed that the alarm speaker on the panel has been disconnected from the circuit board. There are two possible pairs of pins on the board that the speaker could connect to. When looking at opened panel, there is a pair of pins at roughly 11 o'clock from the speaker, and a pair at roughly 10 o'clock from the speaker. Which of these should I connect the speaker to? Thanks.

My new GE Simon is programmed and ready to go but even though it says doors and windows are armed. Nothing happens when I open the doors and windows in armed mode. No sound, no alarm. I know the sound works becuase when I try to access the panel without an access code it trps the alarm. Also, key chain fobs fail after a few hours. They work fine then lose the code. Batteries have been replaced.
