i have my ps3 connected to my t.v via HDMI, but want to get surround sound on my ps3, how can i do this as my receiver doesnt have optical or hdmi outputs?

Does your TV have any audio outputs at all? It is a new feature of a lot of TV's to have at least an Optical output. Use that to run back into your receiver if available.
