it used to work perfectly fine,but now every disc that i put into it shows a err message on the dvd,and of course wont read them-what can i do or what could it be?

the laser is damaged and requires replacement. Depending on how much you bought the player for will depend on how much you are wanting to pay for the repair. The laser unit is not cheap!
