alcohol is one of the worst things to use on a game. the game probably is any good anymore. i use disc skip fixer from gamestop, its only $2 and works awesome

i have had this problem myself. if the game played normally up to the time you were told the disc could not be read, then take out the disc and clean it off. you would be amazed how easily dust and interfer with the normal disc operation. i hope this helps.
