Well.. if you have a laptop, or a pc, you better have in those a wifi modem built in your computer.. most of the laptops now have those things already integrated, and PCs.. well, youll have to buy a PCI card to suit you better... if you dont, youll need to buy a wifi modem...

then, if you used to have your internet connection through wire to your computer, youll have to unplug that and plug it into your belkin router...

then, if you have the wifi modem in your computer, there will be an icon in the task bar (where the clock is) where you can see all wireless conections..
find yours and you are done..
if you need more help, dont hesitate to ask.. ill be alert..
happy new year..

by the way. i hope your friend has also given you the disc to install the belkin router to your pc so you can configure it... even thou it already comes with a default connection, is better that you protect it so no one steals your wifi or get into your network compromising your stuff...

  • Asdrubal Perez Jan 01, 2008

what is the model of the router? maybe i can help you find the drivers

  • Asdrubal Perez Jan 01, 2008

and also.. you are trying to connect to the internet with a PC or a laptop? and are you sure if it has a wifi card? because that is totally necesary to gain a connection because you need something to broadcast (wich is the belkin) and something to receive (that will be the wifi connection in your PC or Laptop)

  • Asdrubal Perez Jan 15, 2008

how come you would want a refund if you never posted anything else? what else would you expect?

  • Asdrubal Perez Jan 15, 2008

and how did you expect for us to fix your problem? hack into your computer to fix it? go to your house to fix it?
the way this site works is that you post your problem, and then, people that have had that same problem, or know how to fix them would tell you step by step of how to fix it..
of course, sometimes, or better, always you have to be specific about your problem, so in that way, people would know what exactly is going on and tell you how to fix it.....
and besides.. i dont control the refund area, you should report that to the fixya staff... go to and have fun..

Modem router light blinking (no wireless connection) F5D8631-4

Try restoring the Belkin back to the factory default by powering up the Belkin and pressing the RESET button on the back of the Belkin for 7 secs. Then connect a LAN cable from the computer to the Belkin, open IE browser and type the configuration IP address and configure the wireless settings ie. SSID, encryption etc. The computer wireless cards will need to be configured with the Belkin wireless settings to allow them to communicate with the Belkin.

Belkin F5D8236-4 Wireless Router will not connect to pannaway dsl modem with same settings as router I am replacing. Dynamic IP address setup. Modem light continously blinks orange. No internet light.

1) With direct connect with modem, check the IP address and default gateway.
(I came across such a modem, it gave default gateway as
I also had the doubt of configuring as a dynamic connection
But it won't work!
Contact your ISP to completely bridge the modem and configure the dsl modem as PPPoE connection with correct username and password.
Finally connect the modem to router and do a complete network power cycle, i.e.: Unplug power from router 1st, then power from modem, unplug the telephone line and now do the exact reverse process... Plug back the tel. cable, then power to modem... now WAIT for lights on modem to come back, then plug in the power to router. This will surely work.

Internet Connection drop outs on Belkin ADLS2+ modem router

Try to call your internet service provider. They should most likely resolve your problem. Or, disconnect everything. Plug the cable wire to the back of your modem. Give it 30 seconds. Plug in the ethernet cord from your router to your modem. Plug in the power adapter to your modem and give it 1-2 minutes to start up. Next, Plug the power to your router. Give about 1 minute. Go onto your computer and hit the start menu, go to the control panel. Look for internet connection and click on it. Find you internet connection, right click, and hit properties. Click on TCP/IP. Make sure your settings are on automatic. Then try your internet.
