Re: lcd reads system error

Apparently often related to a lens motor malfunction. My old 4300 just gave this error for the first time today. The lens extended but made a whirring noise before the message popped up. Nothing I tried would fix it - but after I drove home it worked fine again.

I had a similar problem over a year ago after the camera fell out of my backpack (it was in its own bag but not well padded). When I used it the lens stuck and refused to retract, but I don't recall a "System Error" message. After a few tries, the lens went in and it's been fine since, until today.

Make sure there's nothing (dust, dirt) stuck in the lens barrels. Otherwise, just keep turning it on and off and hope it works.

I rotated some pictures in my computer and was saving them.but now when I turn on my camara it says file error.why? Do I still have the pictures?

You cannot work on your pics using your computer and then expect your camera to recognize the changes made by a different operating system than its own. Use your computer to download all the pics (use a card reader if necessary). Once they are safely on your computer, format the card in your camera and vow never to do that again. If you want to rotate pics in the future, download them first and leave the ones on the card alone.

My camera's reading "disc error". I need to retrieve the pictures

Get a card reader and use it to download the pics to a computer. Then, format the card in the camera to get it to work properly again.

What does read error mean and how to correct it?And get the pictures it seems to have misplaced.

Rhonda, You should remove the memory card from the camera and insert it into the card reader of the PC and move all pics to the PC. Then insert the card back into the camera and format it with the camera. Then whatever pics you take will be saved to the camera and be read by it too. Now for some reason the camera can not read the card. And if you want to use it then the camera should be able to read it. To do that you must first move the pics to some other place and once the pics are safe then the card can be forgotten.

When i go back to look at my pictures on my camera some come up as read error

I believe it is your memory card... I hade one do that to me... From what I gather, the card can get a bad spot on it and if taking a picture and you hit that spot it will not take that pic and just say read error... I would invest in another memory card....

We uploaded pics on laptop and now camera wont read the card it says read error... why is this?

Is it an SD card? If so, double check to make sure you didn't accidentally switch the card to locked.
