HP Laserjet 1320 - Gray bars printing on sides of paper with dark dots
My text and center of the pages are printing perfectly fine. My problem is that there are gray bars printing down both sides of the page. It is also printing black "ink dots" on the right side of the page. I have tried the "cleaning" process but not with transperancy paper. Please let me know what other solutions might be available for me to try at home.

If you're running a Mac, when you try to install the LaserJet 1320, it may suggest that you use the driver set for "HP LaserJet 1320 Foomatic/pxlmono." Do not use those settings. I had to reinstall my 1320 recently and since it said that was the recommended choice, I selected it. If I printed just text, it worked fine, but even a tiny 50KB image would take 5 minutes to print. When I reinstalled it again, I selected the option "HP LaserJet 1320 series," and everything works just fine now.
If the pattern repeats down the feed path of the paper, then a roller is causing it. The toner cartridge replaces the transfer drum, the fuser roller remains in the printer. Since your old cartridge does not show this problem the fuser roller sounds to be fine. Return the recently purchased toner for a replacment, you should be fine. If not then a proper cleaning by a certified technician would be in order.
Managed to solve this myself: I disassembled the printer and noticed there was a paper jammed in the duplex tray. Rolls were all ok, but the paper blocked the use of the duplex pathway. For disassembly help check the HP 1320 service manual, which you can find on the net as a PDF.
The problem can be with the software program. May be the formating of that particular text has been accidentally changed to italic. Or print the same on a plain A4 paper or slightly bigger paper than the check and see if you get the same problem.
