Question about Nintendo DS Console

Nintendo DS fault

Nintendo DS: The unit doesn't recognise a DS cartridge. Works fine with GBA games, but says 'no DS card inserted'. Have been quoted 55 pounds to repair which I don't think would be worthwhile.

Unit is quite old. Have tried cleaning out before.

    Thanks

Take it back to the retailer and explain the problem to the clerk. They might give you a sollution or they will most likely let you exchange it free for a new one as long as it still has a warranty. Also try to clean it out with a air presure duster or what ever you can think of.

Hi Toria,

This problem is likely because the latest Nintendo based firmware doesn't actually support old R4 and fake R4i cards, only very specific R4i cards support it (namely the official R4i 3DS). You can probably swap your R4i card for a newer card like the Acekard 2i, Supercard DSTWO, Cyclo DS iEvolution, or frankly any of a number of cards that will work on the new DSi XL and 3DS consoles. I would personally recommend the Supercard DSTWO, though, I use it myself. It also has GBA emulation built-in which is kind of awesome if you want to play older games. The Acekard 2i is cheaper, but doesn't have the GBA functionality.

I'm not sure where you're based but if you're in the US, use "dsmagazine" as a voucher (I found this on an online DS news site) for DSCardWorld.com, they're authorised retailers of the Acekard and Supercard - I think also a few others. NDS-gear.com is probably better if you live in the Europe or in the UK though since they have cheaper shipping there. They still stock authentic cards so you should be all right either way.

Good luck, and please kindly upvote my answer if you've found it useful! :-)

Ds says "There is no DS Card inserted" when there

There is most likely a problem with the connectors in the DS or the cartridge. Try putting rubbing alcohol on a q-tip and cleaning the DS Card's connectors (don't drench it). Let it dry completely before putting the cartridge back in.

Hey Lil_Lady,

Chances are you're using an updated Nintendo firmware that no longer supports your DSTT card - it's quite old after all and been out for a few years so this kind of thing seems normal. You can probably swap your DSTT card for a newer card like the Acekard 2i, Supercard DSTWO, Cyclo DS iEvolution, or frankly any of a number of cards that will work on the new DSi Xl and 3DS consoles. I would personally recommend the Supercard DSTWO, though, I use it myself. It also has GBA emulation built-in which is kind of awesome if you want to play older games. The Acekard 2i is cheaper, but doesn't have the GBA functionality.

If it has,nt been, The console Won,t Recognise It.
Put into PC, And Right Click, And format To FAT16 Or FAT32.

Thankyou For Using Fixya.

Try getting the latest version of the firmware for ur ds. After u download the firmware, put ur card into card reader. Use computer to delete everything except ur games. Then put the firmware that you downloaded into the card. See if it works.

Nintendo DS Lite - Problem w/ Console not Recognizing Game Cartridge

The problem is that over time the console pins that contact the game catridge gold contacts bend and no longer contact the catridge. DSi has solved this problem by adding a spring that will push the catridge firmly against the pins. So Nintendo must have recognized the problem (a serious design flaw worthy of a class law suit since 4 DS lite at home had a similar problem. I fix the problem in one of the old "broken" consoles by adding a "bumper" made of folded paper on the catridge, opposite to the contacts. This rudimentary added pressure on the pins fixes the game freezing and all the games work now. I feel chated by Nintendo after spending over $600 to replace broken consoles. They usually break after about a year.

Game Pak not detected

Have you checked to see if any of the contacts in the actual console seem to be faulty?

If the problem is just with DS games, have a check by inserting a GBA game into the other side and see if it recognises it. That should tell you where the problem is. If there's a small bit of dust covering one of the contacts in the console, just blow into it a little and see if it comes free.

DS Card Not Recognized

the card slot may be dusty, blow gently into it (making sure no spittle gets in) or get a clean cloth and wipe the outside of it. On no account must the slot get wet, or it will probably get damaged and will not work.
