Question about Thomson 28VK25US TV
I had the same problem with a ten year old set when I was trying to connect a satellite receiver and after considering all the possibilities, like processor lockup, overloading the video input with audio, shorting the scart sockets, and of course voltage failure I concluded that the problem was caused by moving the tv so I decided that with nothing else to lose and having sorted out a similar problem with a computer hard disc I lifted the left hand side of the tv by four inches and dropped it. It now works perfectly and as I was actually looking forward to an excuse with my wife for buying a HD wall tv I am a bit fed up as it is still a perfectly working tv,

Ok, I'm not sure if I get this right, but if the telly is ok when you turn it on or change channel from the telly itself, then it may simly be that you need to use the actual number buttons to turn it on from standby.

Sounds like high voltage failure and if the set is about 10 years old it is not worth putting any more money into it

Tips for a great answer:
Dec 30, 2014 | Sony FD Trinitron WEGA KV-32FS120 32" TV
Apr 10, 2014 | Sony Bravia V-Series KDL-46V 46 in. LCD...
Power off the television. Wait a few minutes, then power it back on. If this does not correct the issue leave the power on, point your remote control towards the Sony television and hold the down arrow button. While holding the down arrow button press the "Power" button. Release the down arrow button and the Sony TV will reset itself to factory settings. Once the television performs a scan on itself your problem should be gone.
