My 2 1/2 year old just did the same thing....... but i am also guilty of the same thing... i sprayed windex on the screen and it dripped down the screen and seeped in between the two screens, and it did dry out but windex is more of an alcohol type i think.... anyway i called a tv repair place and i was told that the water will probably eventually dry itself out, but i guess we will see... i cant get the bottom portion of the screen to detach and the top comes off with basic screws...... so i guess i am just going to have to wait it out and see if it drys itself since i dont want to pay to have it fixed!!!!

SOURCE: Toshiba 52hm84 DLP-HDMI Component has been compromised?

This is a wild guess, but I believe that you are being **** by the movie industry. The HDMI protocol includes a form of DRM (Digital Rights Management) for high resolution content called: High Bandwidth Digital Content Protection Basically this means that the media (disk or broadcast) instructs the player (in your case the cable box) to insist that any downstream devices (your TV) is industry and DRM compliant. Specifically this evil protection scheme is designed to plug the analog hole and make it impossible for you to record or copy the movie by using an analog output from your TV. This even restricts the size of the TV you can play the movie on, thus preventing pubs and bars from displaying the content on big screen TVs without paying royalties. The message means that the manufacturer of your TV has refused to toe the industry line. 1984 Anyone ? Martin

SOURCE: liquid under screen on mitsudishi dlp tv

With a conventional projection type screen on CRT type televisions this is not a problem, but with the newer DLP type screens the fiber of the Fresnal screen acts like a spounge and soaks up any liquid introduced. If you try to clean it it will smear and make it worse. You can remove the screen assy an clean it with Windex but allow it to dry properly.I do not see a problem with cleaning this screen, but make sure you put the screens back the way they were.I must also note that it is no easy task removing this particular screen assy.Good luck

There is a black box in front of the screen

Look under closed captions---black box is TEXT and it can come from either the set or a box if used---set or box is likely set to Text 1.

I have a 65hm117 tv. It has white spots and every day more spots ap[pier. What part do I need to replace.

I have the same problem with my 65HM117. Funny, but it started just when I was getting a FREE repair for a Samsung LCD tv with bad caps on the power supply about the same age as the 117. The problem according to Samsung tech (who was kind enough to look at it while he was here) is the DMD (digital mirror device) chip, the "processing" part of the DLP (Digital light processing). Suggested I call Toshiba. Toshiba rep, obviously not in the USA, told me Toshiba doesn't make DLP's anymore "because of all the problems." They apologized repeatedly, repeatedly pointed out the unit is "out of warranty," but NO help or recal even though they know they built a product with defective, unreliable technologyl. Bottom line, Toshiba lost a customer but SAMSUNG has one for life! I'd repair it, but can't find the part number for the board with the DMD...

After approx 1-2mins the screen fades to black and white streaks and spots

LCD is going bad and eventually it won't show any image. LCD is not able to regulate the voltage going into it so to much is going into the LCD and thats why the spots and streaks are showing up.

My Samsung 50'' DLP has a few dark spots on it, as well as a dark streak on the screan...what are they? I have already replaced the bulb once after two years.

It is unlikely the DLP TI chip is bad--it would just be a few small spots. There are port holes on each side of the set where you should be able to see if anything is awry--shine a flashlight in one side and look from the other. If you have replaced the lamp, then you should be familiar with the insides although how long ago that was depends on the model HLM HLN HLP HLS(my first) HLT(improvement with LED lamp, yeah) Ax50 (newer). Best luck, -Ken

Permanent white spot

can see it in certain lighting and even when the TV is off! It will appear lighter than the surrounding areas at times and can be annoying. I called Toshiba and had a service man come out and even though he acknowledged that this is common, Toshiba will not replace the screen.

It's either signal board or light engine and unless you're really pretty good at electronics neither one is something you should tackle. I do have the service manual for this unit and I would be glad to send it.. Just drop me an email premtech@willapabay.org and make sure you include the model number as well as what it is you need.. I get almost 650 emails a day so it's really hard to remember who's email goes with what problem. :) Good Luck Bill
