Settings My camera will not keep the settings.  When the camera turns off I have to reset the language, place, date, time, etc.  Can this be fixed?

I'm also having the same, identical issue with my EX-Z75. Every time I power the camera off, then turn it back on, I end up at the world map to set the time zone and have to walk through every single step all over again.

I've tried all of the following to no resolve,

    • Backing up and reformatting my 1GB SD Flash Memory card

    • Removing both the battery and the SD card, checking for dirt buildup, dust on either.

    • Skipping over certain steps, or the entire setup screen entirely by hitting the 'menu' button near the bottom right (next to the BS button).
Another issue that I've found is that this is also resetting any customization settings you applied to my camera, having to not only skip over/reset all your settings every single time you'd like to take a picture, but namely changing back my flash preferences, switching video mode from 4:3 (fullscreen) to 16:9 (widescreen) and turning Shake Control back on to "auto" instead of off.

This sucks a lot because if you are trying to snap a picture, a camera that was once fast in getting off the ground and grabbing the shot you want now seems like a programming menace every time you want to use the thing.

    Any solutions out there yet?

Give the following a try:

How do I maintain the settings when I Power ON/OFF my Casio digital camera?

Turn the camera ON and switch to REC.
Press the MENU button.
Using the controller, scroll to the Memory tab.
To have any one or ALL so settings maintained when turned OFF, scroll down to each and then to the right. Any settings you want to be maintained when the camera is turned back ON must be set to ON.
Any setting set to OFF will NOT be maintained when the camera is turned OFF.

Configuring display language, Date and Time Settings.

Perform the reset operation to initialize the camera’s setup (page 136). After that, configure each setting. If the language selection screen does not re-appear when you turn the camera on, it means that the camera’s built-in memory management area has been restored. If the same message appears after you turn power back on, contact your retailer or a CASIO service center.

The off and on button seems to have quit operating. It needed new batteries. We installed them and then we are unable to turn the camera on.

As a first step towards resolving your issue, we recommend you restore
the camera's default settings. You can reset all of the menu and button
operation settings to default except for Date/Time, Language, and Video
System. To reset these settings, please follow these steps:

1. Take the memory card and battery out of the camera for 20 minutes.

2. Please use a clean pencil eraser to rub the contacts on the battery.
Please do not store the batteries in the camera for travel. The
batteries will discharge even if the camera is not powered on.

3. Place a fresh (or fully recharged) battery in the camera.

4. Turn the camera on.

5. Put the camera in picture taking mode. Ensure the display is on.

Default settings on startup

The Clock Battery When the main battery is installed or an AC adapter is connected, the clock battery will charge in about 10 hours. When fully charged, the clock battery can provide several days of backup power. The language-selection dialog will automatically be displayed when the clock battery is exhausted. This is from the manual- but they do not say it is replaceable.
