Dryer will not start!! The connection on the door must be secure; as you can hear the clicking from the timer. However; when you push the start button; NOTHING happens!!!! I've checked all the outlets, curcuit breakers, etc.... Any suggestions?

    Dryer will not start.

The dryer has power as one can hear the timer ticking when the door is closed and the timer has been set, but does not start when the when the start button is pushed.

I presume the door switch is fine as when one opens the door, the timer stops. Dryer was working and finished a load just 5 minutes before the problem occurred on the next load.

The thermal fuse may be blown. The fuse is a white plastic item located behind the back cover on the blower box housing. It has two blue leads attached to it.

  1. Unplug the dryer.
  2. Remove the back cover.
  3. Identify the thermal fuse (white, two blue leads, one screw)
  4. Remove the two blue leads.
  5. Using a multimeter set to ohms, check the continuity of the fuse, it should "peg" the meter if the fuse is good, if the meter does not react, the fuse is blown.
  6. Remove and replace the fuse. Replacements can be found either online or at your nearest Sears.

Have you checked the door switch? all electric dryers have a safety switch that will not allow them to run while the door is not in the fully closed position. If this switch is worn and/or damaged, it can give a false signal that the door is still open even when firmly shut and thereby prevent your dryer from running

Hey GOD IS GOOD !!!!
Electric dryer no start does nothing

Check dryer Terminal block prongs both outside prongs should give combined 220, and 110 each if u check 1 outside & 1 center (ground) prong. Also check house electrical outlet for full voltage.

CHECK THERMAL SHUT OFF THERMOSTAT USUALLY LOCATED ON THE BLOWER. for OHMS or resistance with a meter. Should show a closed circuit. Ohms WHEN THIS FUSE BLOWS IT WILL SHUT DOWN EVERYTHING.

NEXT Test the PUSH start switch with meter for OHMS. Should show OHMS when pushed in or on start, and no ohms or infinity when in off position.

If you hear a humming/clicking sound from motor area you more than likely have a bad motor.
Try this test out to see if u have weak windings or relay/capacitor on motor.
Open the dryer door and turn by hand the drum while machine is on ON position. And you or someone else presses the door engagement switch in. If it starts up then u have bad windings

Another thing to check is the belt safety switch. With a multi meter.
Especially if u just replaced the belt. The belt safety switch is attached to the Tensioner and motor. IT LOOKS LIKE A DOOR SWITCH SOMEWHAT a little black pc of plastic with 2 prongs going into it. Sits at bottom of motor. Under the Tensioner. Attach meter clips to the 2 prongs on switch, Then when the little white push button is pressed in it should show continuity and none when released.

Lastly check ur DOOR SWITCH for continuity with a meter when the button is pushed in the (on/Door closed position,) it may have gone bad.

Kenmore dryer 70 series 66722690 - has power but won't start (no humming noise, no ticking noise from timer, and no light when you open door) nothing!

I would check the breaker before you go any further. Here are some things to remember when you do this. 1) The breaker for the dryer is generally located outside on the side of the house somewhere near the electric meter. Most 220vac breakers are, which include any electric range, cooktop, wall oven, etc. 2) When your checking the breaker, actually physically touch it. Sometimes breakers can trip a but the spring that actually pulls the breaker to off position is weak and by visual inspection would appear on. Just simply reach in and tap the bar lightly in the off direction. If it pops over to the off position, turn it back on then go check your dryer. If the breaker passes inspection, I would unplug the machine because there migfht be a short at the terminal block where the plug connects to the dryer. After you've unplugged it, remove the back and check to see if everything is ok. I have a strong feeling that you won't need to get to this point cause I'm betting on breaker.

Kenmore 70 series electic dryer wont start make humming noise

your motor likely has a start-up capacitor to start the motor, it will be a cylindrical unit with 2 wires going to it, bring this with you to your local appliance repair depot and ask for a replacement with the same numbers on it, re-install as the old unit was uninstalled, this will likely the problem

I have a Kenmore Series 70 dryer wont start, just hums

Check for correct voltage at the terminal block on the back of the dryer, where the power cord attaches to the dryer. You should be getting 220/240 volts, check by way of a voltage tester.
If the voltage is correct, then could be the motor capacitor or the motor itself, or start button?
Good Luck !

It sounds like the drum may be stuck. Turn the dryer on with the door open, just keep the button pushed. Then try to turn the drum by hand, and see if it will start to turn.
