Can't figure out how to straighten and level the camera

Once I put the camera on the tripod, I cannot figure out how to control the angle (heighth) of the shot - it seems there should be a screw to tighten, but I cannot locate it. I am afraid I have lost a part. I do not use it a lot, and cannot find the instructions. Any ideas?

If your tripod has extendable legs, at each juncture there is a sleeve nut and an "O" ring. One end of one of the legs looks like a drill bit chuck - a short length that is split in three places and tapered to fit into the nut. you extend the leg, then tighten against the taper to lock the leg. the center stem whether it is geared or just friction had a 1/4-20 or 5/15-18 thread with a right angled screw or wing nut. It may even be metric. If you don't have the wing nut, a standard bolt will work.

If you have lost a srew or wing nut, it will be loose where there should be one. set it up and then try to raise or move it around in one spot. iof it moves than look for a screw hole. the handle itself sets the rotation try unloosing the handle..

Is there a "lock" position on on the 3 leg spread of this tripod?

-Providing that the image shown is the tripod you own..., the top leg lock levers on each leg is designed to lock the spreader angle of each leg.
-If this is not holding the leg at the correct angle...., either you are putting more weight on it than it was designed to hold..., or the 'cam' on the various locks has worn.
-A 'stop gap' fix for this problem is to insert a very thin wedge between the lever & the leg tube..., thus providing a greater amount of pressure on the tube, (this would need to be done every time the tripod is set up).
-Replacement parts are not available for this tripod & they were not designed to be user serviceable ...., sorry!!!

How adjust the vertical viewing

are you just mounting a camera to the tripod itself? - you need to purchase a head as well - the head screws onto the top of the tripod, and then the camera fixes to the head, usually with a qr plate.

Sunpak 5800d tripod quick release plate. What is the correct position to mount it on the camera and the tripod? Also what is the push button on the plate and how is it used? Thank you

Go to this site and look at the plate mounted onto the tripod, do it that way, so the bubble level is on your side, and the second little push button opposite of you. The second button is there for larger cameras, many video cameras mostly, that have two holes on the bottom, to keep them from swiveling side to side on the plate. Also, makes it easy to ensure you put it on right in the dark, the extra button should go toward the lens. :o)

Look at the bottom of your camera and you should see a hole where a screw would screw into. That should be the screw on the top of your tripod.
