four flashing lights means that there is an error with the a/v output check the plug that goes into your xbox and goes to the tv also check the switch is on one of the position on the cable (its the box which fits into your xbox and the cables run into the tv).
If your still getting 4 rings try a friends tv cable or a family members to see if your cable is faulty
