No Video Mitsubishi VS-50803

We have audio, however, no video. We cannot even bring up the set up menu. Does this indicate the projection lamp needs to be replaced? Not familiar with rear projection TV's.

Re: No Video Mitsubishi VS-50803

You do not need a projection lamp, chances are the high voltage is still getting to the CRT's but somewhere on the signal board the vid signal is lost and it could be one of many things, consider having the entire signal board resoldered, for example...

No video. Lamps out?

U have three color lamps on this set and the likelihood that all 3 would burn out at the same time is remote. Your anomaly is in the video board or the high voltage section responsible for filling the screens with light output.

Mitsubishi VS-50803 Big Screen TV - Trying to hook up an HDTV cable box, I was told to hit: menu, 1, 3, 7, 0 - to get to the service menu and switch DTV over to HD and that would solve my no signal...

First please confirm actual model number on rear of set.

Something is not right here, I am looking at Mitsubishi material downloaded in my computer; shows all codes for sets up to 2004. VS-50803 is a VZ6 Chassis made in 1998 and I doubt it is HD set, if it is one of the early ones it will have beneath the HD input vert sync and Horz sync---those required a special box from Mitsubishi etc.

Set has 3 hidden menus:
1. Option menu (for hard reset)= Menu 1,3,7,0 enter
2. Circuit adjust menu= Menu 2,3,5,7 enter
3. Convergence adjust menu= Menu, 2,3,5,9,enter (#4,5,6 on remote then change modes)

Does the DTV input have the two vert, horz jacks as well?

First is the Option menu is really only for a hard reset of the entire set, if you engaged it you may have de-converged the set.

The adjust menu is for height, width etc

The convergence menu is for convergence.

If you did something and did not save it, unplugging set should put it back to before what you did.

If you try to change the chanel on the remote and you don't get snow, then your set is in home theater mode and stuck on EXT-1 input.
You will have to get into the menu under advanced settings and turn off Home Theater.

Hope this helps.

I went into the menu and changed something by accident, now the volume will not work. How or where do I change this using the menu?

From the Main Menu goto the Setup Menu. Find the Audio/Video Settings menu and select TV Speakers ON.

Mitsubishi VS-60601 has a distorted picture with double vision even if it's a DVD playing. The sides of the screen get narrower in the center of the sides when it's turned on. I'm mechanically inclined and...

Projection sets have two very common problems.

The first common problem is convergence

These sets need to have all three colors - RED - BLUE - GREEN - lined up correctly on the screen in order for the picture to look normal. This is called convergence.

When its out of alignment the video will look 3-D, wavy, distorted, etc. Most of the time you just need to adjust your convergence in the menu. If you cannot adjust it in the menu - then your convergence is broken and needs to be repaired. Convergence problems are very common on all Projection TV sets including Sony, Samsung,JVC,Philip Magnavox,Panasonic,Akai,Pioneer, Hitachi,Mitsubishi,Zenith and others.
You can get more information and a DIY convergenece repair kit with instructions from the link below.

Here are some of the most common problems with these sets...

*Screen Looks 3-D
*Colors wont align
*Screen may look distorted or warped
*No Audio/Video - TV Shuts down - May also make a constant chirping sound

Problem #2 - Another common problem is dull or washed out video.

Your set may have one or more of the following symptoms....

*Dull looking picture
*White looking picture
*Halos around objects
*Red/Orange looking picture

My mitsubishi wd-y65 has sound but screen is black the lamp is good

You are SURE the lamp is good....well...if you say so. However, it sounds like you have made audio connection but no video connection (or lost it or is incorrectly set). Try other input modes. See if you an bring up "setup". If screen/lamp is working.

My Mitsubishi Model VS-60705 did the same thing a couple of years ago...A TV repair facility replaced the Video card. Any repair facility that works on rear-projection TV's should be able to repair your set. I bought the set on Jan 1, 2000. Coming up on 9 years and the set works like new.
