We have a Belling oven that we can't turn on. The numbers in the display are flashing and we can't figure out how to reset this or to turn it on. There are six buttons from left to right, one labelled timer, one with a pan that has steam coming out of it, one with a pan that says stop, a hand symbol, a minus symbol and a plus symbol.

Check if the timer is set? If that is okay, a failed element is the most likely cause. Disconnect the leads and check continuity with a test meter.

Set the clock to manual....a hand symbol..... then try again....the oven wont work on auto unless you set time on and time off

I would imagine that the cooker has an internal battery that powers the clock when the oven is not on mains power - since these are so old now, the battery, if THERE IS ONE NEEDS REPLACING.

you need to set the time if after that it still don't heat then you will need a heater element OK no there not running off the same one OK

Press & hold both the 'Cook Time' and 'Stop Time' buttons together and, while holding both of them down, press either the + or - button (this is the way to set the time of day). Release all buttons simultaneously. This should enable the cooking functions to operate.

I have the same problem. I have inherited a Belling Synergie multifunction double oven. The Model No is worn out - yet there is a specification 492SS which isn't. I am going to purchase the element with this number and hope this works.

First make sure you didn't trip a breaker. You could have power for the electronics on one side of the 220V and that is why the clock still works. Turn off the breaker and then back on even if it looks on. If it does this again you have a sever problem that will require a service call. If the breaker is tripping it could be other than the oven and if so a new one will work ok unless itsin your wiring.

Probably a faulty element, if you feel competent enough, disconnect the feed to the elements in turn, this should eliminate the problem.
