Hi, My sansadisk clip started having this problem somewhere at the start of summer. It didn't autoconnect to windows when I plugged it in.I did the Hold-button thing and it plugged in,but when I dragged new music to the sansadisk folder, the screen froze up with 'updating'. I deleted the new music files from the folders, and then I could playback all my previous music, but the thing is,the music files aren't showing up in the MUSIC folder on my sansa.Instead there is a .sys file called MTABLE in place of those files. My mp3 files are listed there in some way,so I guess that means they're stored in the sansa, just not separately.
What I'd like to know is,can I somehow recover my mp3 files from the MTABLE file?
Also, would formatting the player help me get it back to working order?
Switching to MSC mode and performing a content backup
When the player does not respond to the software for the media player
in MTP ( media transfer protocol ) mode you can switch the player to
MSC mode in the player as next:
1. From the Main Menu, select Settings > USB Mode. 2. Select Auto Detect, MTP or MSC.
When having no more screen view, have a hardware MSC selection:
Forcing Sansa Clip to MSC mode, enabling the USB connection mode for the computer seeing the device as a removable disk:
Sansa Clip 1. Turn device OFF. 2. Slide the Hold switch down to Lock (orange color showing). 3. Press and hold the center button while connecting the device to the PC.
Updating firmware
Next update the firmware of the player. This will clean all your files in the player ( have a backup first as told above ) and the software in the player will be updated.
