How do i switch off flash in canon eos 400d? I do not want to use the flash but it pops up automatically in every mode.

Your camera has a built-in flash and it will pop up automatically in low light or backlit conditions if you are in Basic Zone.
All you have to do is push it back down.
If you set your camera option to P, only the shutter speed and aperture are set. You can then change settings for your flash and other functions.
