We have owned this camera since November of 2004. We had the same issue that you are having. We finally realized that the "press the reset switch" beep was more frequent when the battery was getting low, regardless of what we were doing with the camera. We usually got "the beep" when we would press record, but it would happen anytime, really. Eventually, we had the problem all the time. A quick trip to the camera shop solved the problem..we needed to buy a new battery.

Since we bought the new battery several months ago, we haven't had the problem since. The new battery was (I think) about $40. Don't buy one from the panasonic website...I couldn't believe what they wanted for the same battery...can anyone say rip off??

I'm not sure if my solution will help you, but that is how we solved our reset switch problem. Good luck to you!

My Sony handycam won't allow me to use the touch screen features in play mode. I can't rewind, play or fastforward the tape. It has reached the end of the tape - what now?

If the touch screen of the Camcorder is not working, please follow the troubleshooting steps.

Please make sure that you're using fully charged batteries.

Turn off the Camcorder and turn ON again and check the operation.

Reinsert the tape and check the operation

Try another tape to check whether the issue persists only with particular tape.

Try resetting the Camcorder by pressing the reset button behind the LCD panel.

Error message "push the reset switch"

Pull the battery out to reset it. Get a DV tape cleaner to clean out the tape deck.

That should solve both.

The tapes In my Panasonic PV-GS14 are stuck and won't run

you cannot move the spindles/cogs in a mini dv tape without pressing down a small lever on the rear of the cassette.
the lever is in the lower right, move the lever, then move the ribbon protector to the open position, then spin the cogs, the tape should be free.
if not, then you have a jamm inside the cassette, you can open these casettes by removing 4 small screws. ( this is a very fiddly job & you may ruin the casette, if you dont know how )

Trouble working sony dcr-trv6 mini dv digital camcorder

( c : cassette : 30 capstan fg ) ; your capstan motor is stalling - try ( other brand ) new tapes and gently ! swaying camera from side while loading - if loads , your tape mechanism is dirty or is going out of alignment ; - - if the camera will not unload tape ? the capstan motor may be failing ( connector is loose , corroded ) or - it is jammed and it needs . . . disassembly . . . to complete checking .

Panasonic NVGS4 camcorder problem

Did you try with different tapes? light turr sound is always there in Rew/FF as the tape rotatets very fast. If the head motor stops while spinning, the error will be detected and the unit needs resetting. also if the head is sticky, tape gets stuck on head and unit will stop. Try to clean the head with head cleaner and check.
