Remote will not work dvd (by 3 users)

ok my remote will not operate the dvd player how ever the tv controls on the remote still work i was wondering as we had a power surge which took out the 400v electrolitic capasitor i have had this replaced and dvd/vidio works fine but the remote will not is it possible that somthing to do with the infa red was also damaged in the surge or just coinsidence and the remote has just stopped working

My DVD player is not working with remote control, but if we play VCD it is working what is the problem?

I have the same issue I was thinking about getting a new remote til I seen this web site. I hope you can help.

WizHOW TO CHECK THE REMOTE WITH AN AM RADIO .
!. SWITCH ON THE RADIO AND SELECT MW BAND ON THE RADIO.
2.PRESS ANY BUTTON ON THE REMOTE CONTROL WITH BATTERY INSIDE.
NOW YOU CAN HEAR A PULSING SOUND FROM THE RADIO. THAT MEANS YOUR REMOTE UNIT IS WORKING FINE.
SO THAT YOU CAN CONFIRM THAT THE SENSOR IN THE DVD PLAYER IS NOT WORKING.
YOU HAVE TO CHECK THE VOLTAGE OF THE SENSOR /REPLACE IT IF YOU ARE A TECHNICALY QUALIFIED PERSON OTHERWISE TAKE IT TO THE NEAREST SERVICE CENTER.
