I am having trouble burning
I am having trouble burning to a DVD-RW,it does not recognise the disc I have in the drive,it keeps asking for a DVD-R-RW, what is the solution, thanks , Graeme

- Hi roniecon, thanks for your prompt reply, I cannot find a tools tab when I open the 'D' drive properties, it is also showing a full disc, even if it is a new one, or if there is not a disc in the drive, regards GraemeOct 25, 2009

Open up on start menu,and click on computer,then right click on properties on the d drive,look and see under tools,and check mark for dvd`s and not compressed.This would be under the d drive.This should clear things up.I hope this helps.If it does not ,down load this software,registry mechanic,it will fix the problem.

Clean the read write head with a clean and soft cloth or a moisr cotton swab. The head is that shiney dot on the moving part on the tray when you open it.

If you're only using a CDR ad that is not being detected by your drive try first using a DVDR so we can see if it will be working fine then if that one work the problem here is with the firmware of your media drive and you can do a firmware upgrade on it to correct the problem....

The LG GCC4522B CD-RW/DVD-ROM Combo Drive is NOT a DVD BURNER.
It is a "combo" drive, which means that it can only READ DVD+/- discs and READ/WRITE CD's.
There is no firmware upgrade or any other modification that can convert your combo drive to a DVD burner.
