Most of these were belt driven, if that the case check to see if the lever is connected moving the belt to the slower pully

Turntable doesnt start till platter is in 45rpm position

If you look underneath the deck you will find that the arm is linked by leavers to switches that trigger the motor. Clearly the one that for LP's has become bent out of shape and no longer pushes on the switch. Or the switch itself has broken or become bent, making no contact with the motor.

Would changing the belt help as my turntable plays too fast.

A lot of turntables have two belt positions on each pulley. One for 33 and one for 45. I would check to make sure the belt hasn't slipped into the 45 position.

Hi,
Do on thing Oppen the Turntable and replace the 5 electrolytic capacitor ( 330mfd 16V,3.3Mfd 25V, two 2.2mfd 25V and 47mfd25v )in the circuit board. Also try to replace the 2 Vriable resistor ( 2K and 5K) in the circuit board of which one is for setting the speed of 33.33 and another for 45 rpm. If you need the srevice manual then just get in to the following link. You have to wait for some time until you will get a notification that Get the manual.

My turn table is going to fast when i play an record , what can i do to fix this? thanks

Hello the turn table has two speeds. 45rpm and 33rpm (rotations per minute) If you are playing a record that takes up the entire turntable you need to set it on 33rpm. For the records that only take up half of the turntable you want to set it on 45rpm. Setting the turntable on the wrong setting for a certain size record can make the record play to fast of to slow.

My Sony PS-LX250H turntable will only spin at 45rpm. When i push the speed button for 33 it doesn't change. i also sometimes have to give the deck a little push to get it to spin.

I have the exact same problem for the same model. Only spins at 45 and I sometimes have to kick-start it. I tried de-activating the switch (so that it's not making a connection) and therefore in the 33 position but that does not help.

Turntable 45rpm speed has stopped working

Check that the lever is actually making the contact with the 45 rpm switch position and completing the circuit as it would seem everything else works. The only other thing it could be is a break on the pcb, but that is unlikely.
