How to change lamp on Hitach 60vg825

Is there anything that i should look out for when i change the lamp on my Hitachi 60vg825?. I have done a lot of reading and it seems pretty strait forward. The lamp is 25 months old with only moderate use, less than 8 hrs per day of usage. Is this normal operating time for a lamp to burn out? Thanks for your time.

is that why you are changing it?

Yes, you are due for a lamp. Save yourself some money by ordering just the bulb p/n UX21516 (instead of the whole lamp assy), install it yourself. There are lots of us that sell these bulbs far below what the assy costs. Make sure it is an OSRAM bulb though.

There must be a defect. The device is in a "protection" mode and warning it needs repair. Sometimes an engineer can read what could be the error, when he / she sees the flickering of the light (frequency and or rithm)
If it is still in warranty, call the firm where you bought it.

Check the lamp and its ballast. Replace both of it at the same time. If you wish to get some details; check the site linked here. Pull up older posts. Surf the site with patience. Do a search by type in the brand name of your device at its search box and press "Enter".

There are 2 or three things wrong with this T.V. Step one:
Make sure the Bulb is good by taking it out of your T.V. and inspecting it.
If it is bad...

This lamp already has the housing with it, just swap it out.
Two, you could have a bad power supply- Repair is usually 240-280 bucks in shop.
3: You could have a bad fan. The fan on this T.V. that goes bad is a nightmare to get to and I highly recommend a service man to do it.

I would say to check the video fuse however if your not replacing the board it isnt an expensive repair cost for labor and part and four years of a good amount of use is appropriate surges could have also lead to the damage

Did you make sure to put the lamp door back on? There is a safety switch that will not allow the set to turn on when the door is off. If that isn't it, then you could have a bad lamp ballast or even a bad lamp door switch. I would start there. If no luck there then you most likely have a problem on the power supply module, which could be just about anything on it. Good luck.
