Question about JVC HD-52Z575 52" Rear Projection HDTV-Ready Television

1 Answer

No Colour I have the same problem as this; We have brought our JVC from USA to the UK. We bought the appropriate voltage increase from Maplin electronics. My problem is that I am only able to get black and white and there is no colour. I do manage to get a picture in black and white however wavy I am just stuck on not getting any colour. Can you help? I was wondering if it had anything to do with the PAL setting for UK? Thanking you in advance

Re: No Colour

PAL chroma operates at 4.43 mhz and NTSC operates at 3.58 mhz. Here is a link to PAL to NTSC convertors.

Your HD-52Z575 will only be able to display an NTSC signal, PAL is not compatable. There is nothing that can be done to make it play a PAL signal.

Will my toshiba tv bought in uk work in usa

There are two things you need to know regarding your TV.

Power requirements and broadcasting standards.

Look on the back of the TV and find the sticker or label that mentions the INPUT VOLTAGE.

If it reads 220-240V 50Hz then it will not work in the USA.

If it reads 110-240V 50-60Hz then it MAY work in the USA. At least you know it will work if you change the plug on the mains cable.

In the UK, broadcasts use the PAL system to display images on the screen. In the USA, broadcasts use the NTSC system to display images on the screen.

You need to check the manual that came with your TV to see if it is capable of receiving an NTSC signal. This signal is used in everything in the USA from PVRs, to DVD/HDD recorders, satellite systems, public access and cable systems.

If your TV meets the power and broadcast requirements then it should work.

I think the green is out. No matter how we play with the settings we cannot get any green to show in the pictures. What can we do to fix it? this is a JVC av 56p575

This is a CRT projection monitor - the image is generated by 3 separate tubes. If the green colour is missing then either the tube has failed or the video circuit to the green tube is faulty.
You must find out which by measuring the voltages on the green tube - if they are ok then you will need a new tube. You could find one here - not at this moment, only a blue one is available now

I need to purchase a colour wheel for a Sony LCD TV

This is a LCD type rear projection set and should not use a color wheel--only the early versions of DLP sets used a color wheel and if they did--Sony never (at least in the USA) sold them --try this link to see if it helps you where you are.

If this helps you rate this solution as I do this here for free.

I do not have the manual for my JVC TV. Having problems setting the proper channel number to get my Directv stations

Use a generic universal remote. Program the remote to your JVC tv. Use the newly programmed remote to put your JVC tv on channel 3 (or 4) or the appropriate channel for Direct TV.

Roger, if your contrast (sometimes called picture) and brightness controls are at max you can increase the tubes brightness by turning the "screen control" clockwise, be advised a little turn goes a long ways, don`t crank it too far or you will get retrace lines, you will have to remove the back from the set and follow the red wire down from the tube to the "flyback transformer" on the front of the flyback are 2 controls, focus and screen, do not move the focus control, this should fix your problem.
