Crap sound from swisstec 19" LCD TV

Swisstec J19/1 LCD TV Speakers are small 2.5 x 5.7 cms 5w 4ohms. There is no headphone or extension spkr outlet. The sound is very poor (tinny no or little base) and cannot be enhanced by adjustment. I fear these have been damaged. Can I connect external speakers e.g. computer speakers since the sound will already have been amplified? I guess if I connect bigger speakers direct to the connections the sound will be very weak. Any ideas? The sockets for these speakers are V small as it is a flat screen and I cannot see the point of buying replacements if I could get them. Are there any reasonable speakers that might fit? Any ideas? Many thanks. Geoff

Please help. When I plug the red and white plugs to get the audio to play out of the tv.. The sound still comes through the tv and not through the device I've pluged into. Is there a setting to tell it to audio out? does anyone know?

Thanks Guys
I have fixed this by puchasing a scart to audio and video separate using a digi freeview then routing the sound into an amplified pair of computer desk top speakers. Video into TV and bingo. only drawback is that sound cannot be operated remotely. But I now have a good picture and even better sound. For the price of a lead and connectors and speakers it has given me a decent set up. But dont buy a swiss tec 19" unless you like really crap sound. Geoff

You could try the scart socket for audio out ,it could be worth a try.
A scart to phono adaptor would let you connect to your amplified spaekers but would only give a fixed audio level,
ie you could not adjust the sound via the tv remote control
be careful if you connect any speakers to the tvs speakers you could damage the audio op stage on the tv ,

LG 55LS4500 55 in. TV has sound through speakers, no audio except a hum from headphones and the optical digital to analog output fiber lights up but no sound output What board is bad?

Hi Louis,
The audio circuitry is located in the main board. Try unplugging the TV for a while and try again if the audio comes back.
I would suggest to check all your settings in the audio section first and if everything seems OK then the main board should be replaced.

Sound has gone tinny. Not the speakers because it's tinny through the headphones as well. Help?

Have you checked the "treble" setting in your sound settings? It could be set too high, which would account for a tinny sound.

Can I hook up the Bose Companion 2 series speakers to my HDTV and get acceptable sound?

Well if you currently find the sound of the Bose acceptable and your inbuilt HD TV speakers poor, then the answer is yes. Should you not like the sound of the Bose, plugging them into an HD TV won't make them sound any better :-)

Just use the headphone out of your HD TV to connect. You may find you need to enable the headphone socket/volume via the menu settings on your HD TV

I went to the local electronics store and bought one 2xRCA sockets-3.5mm stereo socket splitter and 2 RCA joiner/couplers and plugged that into the monitor audio plugs at the back of the TV. Works great for a total of $12.00.

I had better sound from TV alone! Only 2 speakers put out sound from TV. Recordings from DVR can not be heard very well w/all volumes at max. System sucks! You get what you pay for! $2500 LCD TV sounds worse w/Philips HTS than my son's $300 TV! ALL cables hooked up as instucted!!!!
