Problem for Western Digital My Book Home Edition 500 GB USB Hard Drive
My book does not show up as hard drive in my computer
my book has worked perfectly and then one day I plugged it in to my laptop and I no longer see it in my computer as a hard drive E drive as my book it just shows that something is plugged in to the usb drive. all drivers are up to date

Try re connecting. Then see what comes up in my computer. What ever gets displayed highlight and click manage. On Xp instructions a little different. See if you can assign a drive letter like V. Your computer should recognize and install your hard drive now.
