Question about Xerox WorkCentre PE16 All-In-One Laser Printer

Problem in scanning

When both scanning and copying, part of the copied page or scan area, comes out VERY anemic and almost unreadable. The problem does not exist for incoming faxes.

Re: Problem in scanning

Your scanner glass, mirrors and lens need to be cleaned.
There is an adjustment you can try.
Press in order. Menu #1934. That will enter diagnostics.
On your menu scroll around to find maintenance, then scroll to Shading adjustment.
Place 5 pieces of paper on the glass and press enter until it runs the shading adjustment. That is the scanner calabration.
That can help. But most likely the mirrors and lass are hazy.
Unlike an old copier where dirty optics showed up as a dark image, dirty scanners see less light reflected from your document and therefore print out what they see which can be streaky, faded and very very poor gray scale.
If you want me to I can send you the steps in disassembling that machine, but it does require pretty much disassembling the machine and that scanner head, you can break the lamp easily.

Why is the photocopy and scanned document coming out dark and unreadable?

Hi there, my name is Lisa and I'd be happy to help you with your J6410. I understand your copies and scans appear dark and unreadable. Although you may not be seeing vertical bands, lines, or streaks through your scans and copies, I feel the following document might help you to troubleshoot the issue you have described:
HP Officejet Flatbed Scanner All in Ones With ADFs Vertical Bands Lines or...

Since the issue occurs when you perform both copy and scan tasks the issue is somehow related to the hardware and not to the software. Do you have the printer connected directly to a wall outlet or is it in a surge protector or power bar? Even if you have been using a surge protector/power bar all this time and you feel it is not the cause, please connect it to a wall outlet just so we can eliminate the power source as the root cause. Issues when Connected to an Uninterruptible Power Supply/Power Strip/Surge Protector In this document you will see, ISSUE: Problems or issues may arise when an HP LaserJet series printer is connected to an uninterruptible power supply (UPS), a power strip, or a surge protector
^ This is not limited to Laserjet printers.

If the issue persists, what you can do, is use the following link to create yourself a case number, then call and it may help speed up the call process:

Step 1. Open link: h22207 www2 hp com
Step 2. Enter Product number or select to auto detect
Step 3. Scroll down to "Still need help? Complete the form to select your contact options"
Step 4. Scroll down and click on: HP contact options - click on Get phone number

Case number and phone number appear.

I hope this helps.
I work on behalf of HP.

Copy Output all black

Janson; does this problem only occur if you're doing copying via the auto feeder, or also if you lay the paper in manually? The auto feeder uses a small glass opening to the front (or left) of the main flatbed scan area; if there is an issue with that area letting in light, an all black page would result. If you get all black with either type of scan, but regular printing still works, then you may have a dead scan element. Try scanning something to your computer or to an email account to see if normal scanning still works.

My officejet pro 8500A prints black vertical lines down the page when I make a copy. I have cleaned and aligned the printheads. What else can I do?

Happened with me too. Turned out to be a small sticky smudge on the ADF glass. That is the smaller glass scan area to the left of the large glass scanning area.
When using the ADF to scan or copy, make sure the smaller glass area is clean along with the rollers.

When I press the black or colour copy button on the printer the page comes out blank. The printer works normally otherwise.

Check scan head movement while copying/scanning..if its not moving check scan head gear assm any breakage? replace it. If its moving properly and giving blank image scan head faulty(which is moving forward & revers wile scanning or copying) replace it..

My copy machine is D 861 digita.when i make a copy

If you're using the automatic document feeder (ADF) to scan the document, make sure the ADF scanner area is very clean. This is the area of the platen glass to the right side. Also make sure that you don't have reduction set on the copy size.

I have a BROTHER MFC- 8860DN that makes black streaks on copies

If this is only happening with copies and not straight prints, it is possible that the problem is with the scanning unit. Use the soft cloth to clean the scanner area to the left side of the machine where pages are scanned when run through the page feeder. A spec of dust or other debris in this area will appear as a streak along the length of the page.

If it occurs on all prints, You may need to replace the drum or clean the fuser unit.

Help needed on ricoh ft 4015 copier

1-you need to determine if the two are part of the same problem

If the jamming occured first with no signs of copy quality issues then, it depends on where it's jamming. Locate the 1st jammed paper, the one that is furthest towards the exit. this stops all other paper after it. for example if there are papers in the fuser -by the drum and coming out if the tray the problem is most likely in the fuser area. Are the papers being crumbled? or just stop at that location?

2-the half dark copies could be a couple of things
a) the seperation unit is going bad and making the copies rise up against the drum
b)does the lamp that come on to scan the original stay on the whole lenght of the paper or does it turn off half way down the page? if yes the cable that connects to the lamp is probably broken and not making contact at the half way point as it is scanning.

Copies and faxes come out with 5 inch black area over whole page

Does this same thing happen if you just print a report out of it?

Here's the logic behind this.

If it happens on scanning or copying, but not on printing that's a problem with the scanning section.

If it happens on everything (scanning, printing etc) that's a problem with in the printer controls.

Usually on lasers, if it's printing related, the first thing to do is change the toner.
If the imaging drum (which is part of the toner cartridge) is damaged, it will leave lines down the page.
This is a fairly common problem on refilled toners.

If you have changed the toner, and it still does it, it's a different problem.
