My hotpoint model NVLR333ETOWB, will not rotate the drum. The motor engages but will only move the drum a fraction of an inch. is this a bearing problem????? Start switch does engage the motor.
I found the chinksy plastic drum guide/wear strip at the front of the dryer to be worn out at the top. It is a white piece of plastic that screws to the front side of the dryer via small stand-offs. I don't know what caused this other than bad design, but it fixed my issues with the dryer squeaking loudly and sometimes not rotating the tub. Hotpoint should be castrated for putting such a flimsy piece of medium here that is expected to support the weight of the front side of the tub. Keith McIntyre
Sounds like the belt is loose from a defective idler pulley
