I agree, but make sure you do a clean un-install and get the latest version of your driver @:
Lexmark has problems with driver compatibility, especially after a windows update.

I have the Lexmark x5450 all-in-one and this is how I got it to work. It took a lot of trial and error and its still not perfect but I can print and scan, haven't tried faxing. I did this on a Mac with leopard but if you're comfortable with your PC you can probably just make a few changes to my notes and be fine. First uninstall any drivers or software that you downloaded from the internet or the installation CD. If you have a Mac put in the install disk that came with the computer, go to optional installs and install the printer drivers for lexmark printers only. After doing that go to your system preferences and install the printer with the driver for 5400 series. Now your printer should work, try a test page. If that works lock the printer to prevent changes. Next insert the installation CD that came with the printer. This should be the 5400 series installer disk. Go ahead and install everything and use the setup assistant to configure your scanner/fax. Now you should be able to print and scan and possibly fax. The only annoying thing about this is that you have to use the Lexmark all-in-one center for scanning and you cannot overview. I usually just select the option for scanning to an application and choose photoshop or illustrator, though I'm sure any image application will work. If you choose to scan a second image your computer might tell you that the application unexpectedly quit. It's annnoying but you will have to quit the program and reopen after every scan. But hey its better than not being able to use your scanner at all. I hope this helps.
