The camera will not turn on even though batteries are new.

Hi Kris - If the camera worked before changing the batteries, but now it doesn't; check the batteries for proper insertion. If just one battery was installed incorrectly, the camera will not power up. Also, check the charge of the batteries. If even a single dead battery was included in the mix of new batteries, the camera will not power up either.

If all these conditions check out ok, the problem may be related to defective hardware (power switch, lens, etc.). When the camera is powered on, it goes through a quick self test. If any of these self tests fail, the camera shuts off immediately. This will often require that the camera be evaluated professionally. Hopefully, you'll find the problem is battery related.

Camera turns off immediately when I turn it on.

I had this problem as well. After spending an hour with a service representative from Kodak, I was told that in order to fix it, it would cost me $60 + $10.95 shipping + applicable state sales tax. I was frustrated when I realized that I may as well just buy a new camera. I then proceeded to gently poke/prod/slam the camera against my hand, but nothing changed. Then, in a moment of inspiration, I turned it on and gently held the outside of the lens as it turned off. When I tried to turn my camera back on, the problem (whatever it was) was fixed!

When I turn the camera on, it immediately turns off. I have changed the batteries twice already. What's causing this?

I don't know the exact fault of this problem, but try these steps for the no power problem: 1. Make sure you will install a new or fully charged battery/batteries into your camera. Please use lithium batteries Ni-Mh or rechargeable Batteries (2000 M.Amp or higher). 2. Clean the battery contacts. a. Remove the battery/batteries and the memory card from your camera, then wipe the battery contacts with a soft, clean cloth. b. Reinstall the battery/batteries into your camera 3. Turn on your camera without the memory card. (If it works then it?s your memory card that is faulty) In order to organise your repair or Trade up please Contact KODAK:

Immediately turns off when turned on. New lithium

If the camera has recently been dropped you may have lens damage that is preventing it from powering up. If it hasn't been dropped your problem may be due to corrosion on the battery contacts inside the camera which can prevent the full power of the batteries from flowing into the camera. Try this free fix before you do anything else: remove the batteries and wipe the camera contacts firmly with a dry cloth (heavy corrosion may require cleaning with a wire brush, steel wool, or sandpaper). Remove any residue that may have fallen into the battery compartment during cleaning, then wipe both ends of the batteries and place them back in the camera and give them a full charge (assuming that you are using rechargeable batteries). This cleaning clears the problem about 90% of the time. If it doesn't work for you, the camera may have a problem that requires professional repair.
