Question about Archos 604 Digital Media Player
I just recently got my archos 604 about a month ago.. and every now and then it would freeze..but today, i found it with this screen asking:
Would you like to recover your system?
No Repair Disk Format Disk
I keep pressing any of the three to hopefully fix the problem, but it just goes back to the same message. I went online and was searching the web to find out if there was anyone that maybe had a similar problem. I read some of the reviews and some said I needed to update the firmware or send it in, and have the company fix it for me.. I don't know what to do..and would really appreciate it if you could help out in any way!
Hello everybody, i had this same problem with my archos 604 wifi but thankx to someone on another forum i fixed it. it is really easy:
first you take the battery off, then you unscrew the 4 or 6 screw on the sides of the hard drive, then you lift the lid and then the hard drive, VERY CAREFULLY, Then you will see the problem : the little black plug conected through a ribbon to the hard drive is not plugged correctly or it is completely unpluged from the white socket. even if it is not un plugged just make sure it's tight, put everything back together and it should work just fine. ( IT IS A LITTLE DIFFICUL TO SCREW IT BACK TOGETHER BUT YOU"LL GET IT RIGHT) it is a weird problem. but it is easily fixed.
i hope that helps, bye

First you should backup anything on the device that is important, then try the new firmware. if that doesn't help. Reformatting would then be the best option and if that fails, then the unit has a problem and would need to be sent in for repair.
