I had a repairman come in yesterday. Fridge was clicking and no cold air. Model GS6SHAXLT03. He said my compressor overload switch was bad. He replaced a switch and fridge started working. He said the part went bad because the compressor is going bad. It was drawing 2 amps (I read on the web, 2 amps is not all that bad). He said it might last a few days or hours and wanted $700 for new compressor + $90 for the switch. I think he was trying to soak me IMO so I said no. He took his switch out and handed me my defective one. He didn't put the switch back because I planned to get a new fridge. As it turns out the defective part is a "start dev" switch (PN2212194). The compressor overload relay is an entirely different part. I will order a new one to buy some time but there are 3 wires with connectors laying in the back. I don't know what wire goes on what terminal on the 'start dev' switch. There's a red one. One white that has a pigtail going to another switch. That switch has a blue wire that goes back to the dev start switch. So that's a red white and blue one. The dev start switch has 3 terminals, arranged like a triangle. There's one at the 12 o'clock position with no markings. The one at 9 o'clock is marked with "4" and the one at 3 o'clock is marked "1".
Thanks in advance

    Thanks for the assist.
I found the wiring diagram. I can see that the red wire is the "C" and gets wired to the top connector of the switch. Now I have 2 wires left over. 1 white one that has another wire piggybacked on it that goes to a capacitor. The output of the capacitor then goes back to the switch. I can see that the capacitor out goes to the start lead of the compressor but I don't know if that is the left or right terminal. Any way to determine which side of the switch I should wire the cap out to?

12 o'clock red...4 o'clock blue...3 o'clock white .( the white , has the smaller terminal )

Testimonial: "Right to the point. Very helpful. Answered my question."

The red wire is the line wire , the blue is a cap wire (start) , the white wire (1 to cap , the other neutral run ) . This gives you a start capacitor operation . After the compressor starts , the blue wire is disconnected by the relay , letting the red and white wire , run the compressor .

Refrigerator/freezer stopped cooling/freezing yesterday. Lights are on inside and 8 hear the fan running in the freezer but no cold air. Tried powering off and also unplugging to see if it would reset...

possible failure of defrost mechanism causing ice to build up behind back of freezer preventing air flow into freezer and fridge. Try turning it off for enough time for ice to melt if cause.
if this is issue the repair man will need the ice half melted to be able to test the thermistor that senses the ice buildup.

Freezer too cold--refrigerator too warm

If the cold control is not adjusting the temp when you move it, that can be part of the problem.

Make sure this fan is running. You may have to hold the door switch in for it to run. There is a flap you adjust with the fridge temp. control. Make sure it's opening and closing when you adjust the fridge temp.
The problem could be the electronic control if you have one or the mechanical linkages.

I have a Whirlpool Refridgerator model WBM39MS. It stopped cooling and I had it repaired. The Repairman replaced the electronic control box. Repairer claims that the compressor is working. It now seems...

Hi Lollipop, partially working fridge? A fridge either works or not, cold air is made in freezer then distributed to fridge via a vent. In your case WBM Series fridge, top mount freezer blows air down a vent (back centre of chiller compartment). A common fault with the WBM Series is both the PCB and Interface Panel (PCB beside compressor back of fridge, Interface is display panel front of fridge).
So if freezer is cold and fridge not, try a fan motor. If compressor doesn't work either comp is faulty or PCB has blown(has a burning smell).. Hope this helps you and maybe many other ppl.

Everything is freezing. Local repairman says the

Hi, what he is talking about is panel in the vent from the freezer to the fridge. Basically when you want the fridge colder a little panel (damper) inside the vent opens and allows more cold air in the fridge. When you want it warner the damper closes and allows less cold air into the fridge. This damper is controlled by the fridge control. What your repair guy is saying is the door is stuck in the open position which is allowing too much cold air into the fridge and freezing the food. if you have any other questions please feel free to comment. Fridge too cold

There is a damper motor that is behind the vent where you feel the cold air coming out in the fridge section.  That damper should open and close after making temp. adjustments.  See if you can look in the vent and see if it is wide open.  Set your freezer on the coldest setting and check this vent again an hour or so later.  If it is still wide open then that damper motor is bad.  Let me know if you find something different or have any questions.

Kenmore side by side Refrigirator

Sounds like you have a defrost problem. The timer could be playing up and taking too long to defrost, which causes the evaporator to ice up, hence no cold air to the fridge and the water line freezes up, hence no water dispensed. When the timer does eventually defrost the fridge then everything returns to normal. This could also be caused by a faulty defrost terminator or bad connection on the defrost element.

Power Cool button works on freezer , but not fridge

He Alisonki! I was having the same problem. On mine the water coil inside the refrigerator keeps freezing which keeps the water from circulating and my refridge won't stay cold. I was told by one repairman that it was a computer problem and you have to order parts from the Samsung Manufactuer which takes about 2 - 3 weeks to get. I am tossing mine and buying a more reliable brand. One repairman came yesterday and left without fixing anything or charging me. Larry
