I recently had this problem and afer checking and cleaning the ice bin and making sure it was inserted correctly but still would not dispense. I called a repairman. The disenser level is triggered by a piece of plastic that is the size of a toothpick. The toothpick was broken and the entire dispenser workings had to be replaced. (can't just replace the tootpick) About $50 plus service call.

When my refrigerator goes into defrost mode (twice a day?) it melts everything in the freezer. My ice bin is just one huge block of ice now. There is no ice on the back wall either. I replaced the defrost heather twice now, and it did not help. Any suggestions?

I have a GE PSS26MSTC side by side fridge. Maybe a few months ago the water and ice dispenser started acting weird. Ice maker works but nothing dispenses - this does not bother me much. The water dispenser works randomly which is pretty annoying. Here's the weird part . . . . if I push the ice button and actuate the trigger (no ice comes out of course) and then push the water button, water dispenses after about 5 seconds (this works 50-60% of the time). When this doesn't work, water will dispense if we open and close the fridge door a few times (don't ask me how we figured this 'procedure' out). From what I've read on this forum, it sounds like I need a new board (WR55X10552 or WR55X10656). Does anyone agree with this? And does this problem apply to the recall I read somewhere about this board?
