My washing machine, dispite what water level it is set on, keeps filling and filling until it overflows. What is the problem?

Trash and sand is in the bottom of the tub blocking the pressure tube.
Remove the tube from the water level switch and blow through it to get the seddiment out. Replace the tube securely empty any standing water and retry'
