Video card upgrade on a Sony Vaio PCV-RS530G

I'm thinking of upgrading the video card on my Sony PCV-RS530G to a higher memory video card. How would this affect the power supply? Would I be limited to specific models only? Thanks in advance.

Unplug everthing and place PC face down on bench with base over edge. Earth yourself.
Swing pc unit forward and unscrew the case retaining screw on both sides of the pc unit, swing unit other way and remove other two screws. Case can be loosened, pull large cover up and remove both sides. Parts are then exposed. A shiny metal box covers the memory on the left side of the PC unit. Remove tape that retains it,slide and lift off from the edge facing you.

Memory slots are then exposed....insert and reassemble PC.

Ten minutes tops....good luck, much better performance.

SOURCE: Replacing the powersupply on a Sony VAIO PCV-RS720G desktop

Hi There,

From the looks of things that model will take a standard ATX power supply which would be available from and computer part dealer and ebay etc, get yourself a nice 400w replacement try and get a small form factor one if you can as it will be a tight sqeeze inside the case.

when replacing it you will have to open the case up (get an anti static wristband if you can, and work on a table rather that a carpeted floor) un hook all the connectors the old power supply (one in each drive and there should be 2 in the motherboard) you may have to pull the Dvd rom out slightly to get the new supply in, unscrew the 4 case screws holding the power supply from the back of the case. lift it out then put in the new one, screw it in using the case screws and connect up the internal power cables to the drives motherboard and new graphics card, close the case, plug in and voila

If you get stuck just ask and we will help

Can I add upgrade my graphics card for my Sony Vaio PCV-RZ502P

Best thing to do is to open the case and see if you have a PCI-Express, or AGP Slot. If you have one of these slots on the motherboard, then you most likely can upgrade the system to a better video card.

Are there any video cards that you can use to upgrade the 530g? I have seen posts that the power supply is an issue. If it is possible is it a matter of installing the card and disabling the onboard...

Your pc has a special graphics expansion port - AGP x8

You can insert any graphics cards which will fit the port. Check carefully, there are quite a few different types of graphics port.

Once inserted, boot up the PC, and insert the disk you should get with the card, it will have all the relevant drivers.

There should be no need to alter the bios settings, the new card will be identified by the boot process.

If power supply does become an issue, you will need to upgrade the PSU (Power Supply Unit).

Hi, wondering if I should upgrade my sony vio pcv-rg22z and what the max upgrade on memory etc is?

Hi. I hope this information helps you out.

The rz22g model has a max memory amout of 1 gb, using two 512 mb slots.

So you can get 2 512mb pc2700 memory modules for it, as this would max out the memory just make sure that the memory is of compatible type and build. You can't just go get cheap pc2700 ram and put it in, it might not work at all.

As far as other upgrades, it has an ide interface, so probably won't be able to find a drive bigger than 500gb, but that's a pretty big drive right there!

For processors, It appears that a 3.0 ghz pentium4 w/ht is the best you can get to fit, that's if you can afford one. They can be a pricy investment, and in the long run, you could almost buy a new computer that has dual or quad core performance for about the same price.

You can get any brand of pci video card, i recommend nvidia, as it has better performance than an ATI card. The newer the better as far as models go, just get the one with the most memory for what you can afford. Most good video cards can cost about $100, but if you go to tigerdirect, they have a Galaxy nvidia gtx430 on sale right now. It has a giabyte of ram on the video card, as well as having vga, dvi, and hdmi jacks, so you can hook it up to just about anything nowadays.

I hope this has helped make some decisions, and hope that it goes well for you.

Can I do a memory upgrade on Sony VGC -LS 37E?

the specs for your computer, it states that it is equipped with 2gb of memory 2x1gb and max at 2gb, so I doubt that any higher memory upgrade installed would work, or else it would cause your system to crash or even damage it.

Can the graphics card on Sony pcv v1/g be upgraded

Are there any open sockets on the board? These would accomodate more video ram. If not, I'm afraid you may have to buy a new card. Are you replacing a card from the PCIe bus? If so, simply remove it and put in your new one. If you are working from onboard Video, you need to make sure of what kind of Video Bus you have, AGP ( older ) or PCIe.
Look in your manual for this information. All should be plug n play from here.

Video card upgrade needed.

Your Sony has an integrated video card which can't be upgraded. It does have an AGP slot where you can install a video card, though. If you tried to download the latest drivers for this onboard card and that hasn't worked, then a new VGA card is in orde. These are getting hard to come by, as the standard is now PCI-E graphics.
I would look for something like an ATI Radeon 9600 with 128 MB RAM if you want decent performance.
