Re: Problem with sending fax

Posible, try connecting a handset to the fax and dial the number,
or put it on speaker ( depending on the model you have, did not specify)

Cannot send or receive faxes to one particular number, but is able to send and receive faxes with other numbers

"cannot send or receive faxes to one particular number, but is able to send and receive faxes with other numbers"

If your machine can receive a fax transmission from one number, it will receive from all numbers.

If your machine can send to all but not to one particular number, please check that there is a fax machine there to receive it.

You can try to send manually and listen for beeps from the other fax -if one is present- then push the START button to initiate transmission.
If their machine is in working order, the transmission should start. (After the initial 'handshake' of course.)

Real Time Transmission
When you are sending a fax, the machine will scan originals into memory before
sending. Then, as soon as the phone line is free, the machine will start dialing and
sending the fax. If memory becomes full, the machine will send the document in real
time (even if REAL TIME TX is set to OFF).
Sometimes you may want to send an important document immediately, without
waiting for memory transmission. You can set REAL TIME TX to ON.
1 Place the original face down in the ADF.
2 Press Menu, 2, 2, 6.
3 To change the default setting, and then
press or to select ON (or OFF) and
then press Set. Go to Step 5—OR—For
the next fax transmission only, press or to select NEXT FAX ONLY,
and then press Set.
4 For the next fax only, press or to select ON (or OFF), and then press Set.
5 Press 1 if you want to select additional settings. The LCD returns to the SETUP SEND
menu—OR—Press 2 if you are finished choosing settings, and then go to Step 6.
6 Enter fax number and then press Fax Start.

Adjust the document resolution to suit your fax needs.Press BROADCASTING on the control panel.4. Enter the number of the remote machine using the number keypad. 5. Press enter to confirm the number. The display ask you to enter another fax number to send the document. 6. To enter more fax numbers, press 1 to select "YES" and repeat steps 4 and 5. It could be a compatibility issues between the two faxes. If the other fax is particularly old its communication speed could be too slow for your fax.

Also don't rule out the line on there end. Many times in my job I've had Telephone company's check the line remotely and say its ok but its not until they come out to site that they find an actual fault.

Do a manual reception. Put your fax reception mode from automatic to manual. When the fax rings in pick up the line with the hook or speaker phone button and then press the start button. This rules out a fair part of the line correction. If you can receive of course.

I need help

Pick up the handset and try to manually dial the number (make sure you're dialing a 1 if required). If you cannot, then the problem is with the phone company (perhaps there is a block of long distance calls of some sort). See if you can send to a local number. You're information is a bit sketchy. Also, print out a transmission report and let me know what the error numbers are. let me know one way or the other Ed
