I purchased a Catalina Hot Tub that has a KDC-MP228 installed. The radio works however the CD player does count, recognizing the disc however there is no audio coming from the pop up speakers located on...

It sounds like the stereo has got some faulty circuitry internally. You'll need to replace the unit to be able to listen to CDs in your hot tub. you may want to look into getting a marine radio as a replacement. I'm sure this will be more suited to this application and is probably the kind that should have come with the tub in the first place. I hope this helps and good luck!

Illumination v. Dimmer

Good day,

The illum wire goes directly to the headlight switch and tells it when to light up, where as the dimmer wire is variable meaning it would dim up or down with your dash light control. Dimmmer is usually only need on factory radio's and not aftermarket. I suggest wiring only to the illuum lead and do not connect dim. Also about the clock make sure your red and yellow wires are not crossed, yellow is a constant hot and red is only hot when the ignition is on, so if they are backwards the radio would loose it's memory when you turn the key off.

Hope this helps

Battery drain and HU dangerously hot

I have the same problem with My HU of over heating especially during the hot days of summer. I am gonna try to install a pc fan(square one's)underneath the HU to cool it doqn a bit. Im also gonna run a power wire to the radio power wire so the fan turns on when i turn on the radio on. I want to see if the HU is still overheating. My HU overheats even when just sitting in the car.

I have the same problem but it works for about two minutes before it cuts off I think its a short in the speaker wire because I've tested everything else and it still did the same thing
