Glare - HP Plasma TV Model PL4260N

I have had a HP plasma TV model PL4260N for just under one year. The screen has a yellow/gold glare, normally on people's faces, but also the glare will appear in light colored areas.

I have tried the white-wash feature, but it still appears. I originally thought it was due to an issue with the cable TV provider, however, I have moved and have the same issue with the new provider. It also occurrs while watching DVD's.

Any recommendations would be greatly appreciated.

We have the same yellow/gold glare. It's in patches randomly across the screen. It is not continuous but happens often. We tried adjusting color and tweeking but didn't help. If you can't give a solution we'll have to go to the trouble of using the warranty.

Requires taking the back off: There is a module about 1 and a half inches square with 4 controls on it (looks like a small phillips screwdriver will fit.) Sits vertically. A yellow one on the lower left side. Tweek or turn it just a little about 2% and watch the picture and seen if the problem goes away. First unplug the tv before taking the back off and when back is off position the tv and yourself to turn the control and turn the tv on. You will need someone to turn tv on for you. Then do the tweeking with someone watching the picture for you

Call HP and file a claim under the warranty. This is a problem with this model and they are shipping replacement kits to fix the problem. Ity is called "pixel flair". Go to this website and you will see all of the problems.

Reflection off of screen

Plasma TV's are known for their glare and reflection issues, you can still fix it by buying a third party anti-glare filter and applying it on your television. For example, "ViewGuard" makes filters that goes up to 65" in size. It is not cheap though, depending on the size of your television.
Of course, the best solution is to adapt your room accordingly. If the glare is caused by the sun light coming from the windows, installing curtains on your windows or moving your television to a better spot is a very effective way to reduce the glare and the reflections on your television.
If the glare is caused by the room's lights, the best solution is to install ceiling spot lights with a dimmer.

Hope that helps!

When there is white or shiny objects on the screen. I get a weird white distortion.

Hi Drum, Call HP immedately! I had the same problem. It only gets worse. It is a Voltage Problem on the Board. I own the same model. fortunately my TV was still under warranty. We received a refurbished model of the same. That was 2 years ago in November. It is still working fine.

The problem is the "Y-SUS" board. It is inside the set on the left side with several aluminum heat sinks, under the left side brace bar. You can order this board from Union Electronics at .Search for part number: TNPA3243AB-PA

It lists for about 115$

There is a Special coating on the Screen to prevent glare. It all depends on what they used to wipe it down. Anything with an ammonia base to it "Not Good" You can try and wipe it down with a damp Micro fiber cloth. But it really sounds like you streaked it pretty bad. Look in your local Yellow pages for a company that will re coat it for you.
