Looking at it from the back, the board on the left is the ysus. You should see a big red cable coming from the power supply board in the middle of the set going to the ysus. Near the red cable plug on the ysus should be a fuse. Most likely the fuse has blown. If it is you need a ysus PCB. Check out encompassparts.com. If you get a new board be sure to set all the controls on the new board to match the old board. If you don't you will have little sparkles all over the screen when it comes back on. I hope this helps. You may want to check all fuses on the power supply and the zsus which is on the right side of the set. I have seen both the ysus and zsus be bad together. Good luck and thanks.

I have a LG 42pc3dv with no picture just sound. I have this tv over 3 years, other people experienced the same problem, some of them mentioned the Y sustain board. Is this an easy fix.

Check the fuse on the Z-sustain module. The module all the way to the right (looking from the back) If blown (and before the set went out there was a loud pop) you need to change the IC on the Z-sustain part number STK 795-820 or 821 and the fuse. If you don't want to bother unsoldering and soldering back this part and you know the fuse is blown then replace the Z-sustain module. Do a google, ebay, or shopjimmy.com search with the model number for price and availibility.

Have a lg 42pc3dv plasma tv that made a loud pop sound and the sound stayed on but picture went black. have already had the z-board replaced about 8 months before. could this be the same problem or...

Ok, I'll take a S.W.A.G. (scientific wild a** guess) at this:
1. The "pop" you heard was most likely a capacitor or short venting its self. I would not be surprised if you find the cover of the capacitor completely separated from the base. Even though the "capacitor plague" is supposedly over the are still millions of them "floating around".
2. From your brief description, I gather you have had indications of this problem before. The the previous Z-board failure was most likely brought on by an unstable power fluctuation ( the weakest link in the chain fails first ).
3. Upon inspection of the visual damaged component, trace back to the video power distribution section/card and perform voltage/amperage/frequency test. I suspect you will find power filtering/stabilization problems. The cure ( subsequent to board replacement ) probably filtering capacitors, baring other heat/component damage.
That's about the best I can do with the information at hand. If it is helpful ( the correct solution ) feel free to send me "a cup of internet coffee and a donut".
Sincerely
Doc Michael

TV LG Model 50PX1D-UC Flat Panel Television Loud Popping Noise. TV goes out. I turned on my tv the other morning and it let out a loud popping noise and the picture went out. Any suggestions...

Hello,

The problem is that there is a bad capacitor inside the unit, it is either on the main panel or the power panel. The popping sound you got was due to the fact that the lead on the capacitor was bridging, therefore causing some electrical popping sound.

Run a check on the main panel and the power panel for any bad capacitor and replace it with a new one. That way, your television will be in good condition once again.

Take care and good luck

My LG Plasma television DU-42PX12XC had a loud pop

Your tv contains protection circuitry that would shut down the tv if the ymain was out. If the ymain had blown, you'd have no sound and just a flashing standby light. My gut tells me you need to replace the Power Supply Board (PSB). I've seen this before and after spending too much money trying to diagnose a ymain failure, I was surprised to learn that when you have sound but no picture, the psb is a gonner. Try ebay, shopjimmy.com or discount-merchant.com for a replacement.
Good Luck!

LG plasma tv made loud popping noise

The plasma gas tubes may be damaged or the gas couldve leak out. remember plasma have to remain upright at all times even when transporting them, if they are not you should just set it up straight for about 3-4 hours before turning it on.

LG 42pc3dv-ud

Yes you need to replace the board LG 6871QYH048B. The board has a short. Check the fuses and one of them should have no continuity
because it is open.

Replace that board and problem solved

42 inch LG Plasma TV - Lost picture

Our LG 50" plasma tv screen went black after a popping noise but still had sound, after great diliberations decided to take the back off and have a peek!
We unplugged the tv and tested the fuses (there were three we could see) one had blown, the one on the left as you look at the back of the tv it also has one above it. We wrote the code/seriel number down and took the fuse to the electrical wholesalers Maplin and bought a pack of 10 fuses for £1.29 replaced the fuse in the tv and everything now fine!!!!!!
Hope this might be of use to anyone whose lost the picture after a loud popping/snacking noise but still has sound.
