Question about Onkyo TX-SR575 Receiver

Open Question

Everything works but the subwoofer

I just bought the TX-SR575 and hooked it up. Everything is working great except the subwoofer. I am using the same cables that I used with my old reciever. The sub worked just fine with the old one?

SOURCE: No power!

okay, this seems like either the fuse hase blown in the actual mains plug, or the mass fuse inside the device, it looks like this very small glass fuse, same size as an ordinary fuse, its just seethrough. see if you can get a replacement for it, you may need 2 open the unit to check if it has blown, it will be black or a "burnt" colour from inside! if you dont want to open it, take it to any electronics store, they are bound to check for you, but these fuses don't cost more that $1 or 50pence!

hope this helps

SOURCE: Subwoofer jack not working

Try using another cable. Such as a spare Component cable. As a general rule if the cable is large in diameter it will do the job. You dont have to buy a Woofer cable specifically, as stated above a Component cable will be more than enough.

SOURCE: Barely hear subwoofer

I had the same problem initially, but going through the auto speaker setup, the receiver boosted output to the subwoofer to compensate. Seems ok now.

SOURCE: hooking up a Klipsch

Need to confirm that you have a subwoofer cable which is a coax cable. I have seen this sort of issue when using a standard RCA cable. If you need a cable you can order it at monoprice.com

Good luck..

Tx-sr575 7.1 - is there any use in connecting and old power amp and equalizer to this receiver? If so, how?

Ya mean like to hook up Bose 901's? Nevermind.

Utility is in the imagination of the dreamer.

Any analog processor can occupy the Tape Out/In loop. However, it will only affect stereo analog sources and, once engaged to monitor, it will disable any digital audio source.

An external amp COULD be slaved off the tape Out (or the anticipated EQ Out, but it won't be volume-controlled by the Onkyo. You would need an AVR with at least Front L/R pre-outs.

When i load a purchased cd everything works fine except there isnt any sound. The radio works great

Does it work for regular CD's?
If you have an amplified system, you may have the wrong wires hooked up for the "remote".
Swap power antenna and remote blue wires and it should fix the problem.

No sound with the tx-sr606

This is a problem of DSP. If enter service mode,
You will see a picture like this. You can do nothing
Except selling this amp cheaply. This DSP ??????
Causes NO SOUND in all channels. Besides, never
Buy 2nd hand onkyo from 5/6/7/805 to 5/6/7/848Series amps. You will suffer the consequences!!!!

SR573... Does it support NTSC/PAL?.

There's no mention of either NTSC or PAL in any spec sheet.

This link leads to Onkyo and the rear view of the amp lacks the voltage selector.

http://www.onkyousa.com/model.cfm?m=TX-SR573&class=Receiver&p=s

The manual for the similar model SR575 says the North American model does not have the voltage selector. Too bad. Under the general specs for the variants of this family of receivers they list the following power specs. I have no idea where you have to go to buy one from the "Others" group.

Power Supply North American: AC 120 V, 60 Hz
European: AC 230 V, 50 Hz
Others: AC 120/220-240 V, 50/60 Hz
AC 220 V, 50/60 Hz

Some aliases for the SR575=
TX-SR505
TX-SR505E
TX-SR8550
TX-SR575

You could do what I did over 30 years ago. Join the Army, go overseas and buy one in the PX. Every HiFi product we bought in the PX in the 70's had the dual voltage feature.

Onkyo TX-SR575 I bought this unit at a flea market. Comes with everything including the manual except for the remote control. Manual is somewhat difficutl to understand. Stand by red light keeps...

The unit is in protect mode. The outputs are fried in all likelyhood. This can be repaired. Figure on $5-$15 for parts plus the local labor rate for the total repair cost.
