Question about Onkyo TX-SR575 Receiver
I just bought the TX-SR575 and hooked it up. Everything is working great except the subwoofer. I am using the same cables that I used with my old reciever. The sub worked just fine with the old one?

okay, this seems like either the fuse hase blown in the actual mains plug, or the mass fuse inside the device, it looks like this very small glass fuse, same size as an ordinary fuse, its just seethrough. see if you can get a replacement for it, you may need 2 open the unit to check if it has blown, it will be black or a "burnt" colour from inside! if you dont want to open it, take it to any electronics store, they are bound to check for you, but these fuses don't cost more that $1 or 50pence!
hope this helps

Try using another cable. Such as a spare Component cable. As a general rule if the cable is large in diameter it will do the job. You dont have to buy a Woofer cable specifically, as stated above a Component cable will be more than enough.

I had the same problem initially, but going through the auto speaker setup, the receiver boosted output to the subwoofer to compensate. Seems ok now.

Need to confirm that you have a subwoofer cable which is a coax cable. I have seen this sort of issue when using a standard RCA cable. If you need a cable you can order it at monoprice.com

Also, it could possibly the preout terminal itself that is not working. One way to prove that is by transferring the subwoofer cable from the preout and temporarily transfer it to the tape out section. If it ouputs sound from there, then that means the speaker and the cables are working fine and it's just the preout terminal itself that is not picking up anything. ^_^
