Front wheel stud replacement for a 2006 Hyundai Sonata GL.

I broke one of my wheel studs, I was able to get the broken stud off the wheel hub, but I can't install the new stud. There is a shroud behind the wheel hub that doesn't allow enough room to push the longer new stud through the hub. My guess is the wheel hub needs to be removed. I removed the hub retaining nut and attempted to use a wheel puller to remove the hub, but it just seems to push the front axle backwards towards the transmission. What in gods name hold the wheel hub on? Is there another way to insert the stud, what am I missing here?

Grind a flat spot on the round head of the new stud this should give enough clearance to install it. don't pull the hub this will damage the bearing.

I appreciate the help. I did not know I would ruin the bearing but it probably needs replacement anyway but not right now as the parts are not handy.I figured i could grind that. Thanks..

How do i remove front wheel studs on sonata 2006

You can't remove the wheel studs totally out of the disc. It depends on how it is fitted.

Remove the wheel and check the brake disc. you can find the studs may be press fitted or welded to the brake to hold it in position & not to rotate when we tighten the bolts. Better approach nearest dealer to check it out and fix it

Removing Lug bolt plate from car

HI:
Stop!!! The "round plate" that the wheel studs are mounted to is your hub assembly. To replace a broken stud, you simply need to use a hammer and a drift pin punch, and pound it backwards. You replace it in similar fashion: insert the new wheel stud in from the back side of the hub, and use the wheel lug nut to draw the new stud into the hub assembly.

How can I replace the front wheel studs on a Hyundai sonata 2003?

hi if you look at the new stids you are going to fit? you will see they are splined on the inner side so with wheel off you tap the old stud/s backwards from the hub then fit new stud/s from the rear ensuring located on splines then you can draw fully home into hub using w/nut or another nut same thread ? if your cars nuts are not open ended ?

Broken stud on wheel

The studs press out and in. Perhaps a hammer would work. Replacements studs can be purchased. Need to remove hub, of course.

Front wheel stud broke off

Knuckle needs to be removed and the center hub 'pressed out' using a hydraulic press (accepted procedure). You can avoid this by using an air hammer and disk cutting tool to remove the old stud, then trim the 'stop flange' on the new stud (1/4 moon cut) in order to install it.... however, you gotta know what you're doing so you don't compromise the integrity of the new stud.

REPLACING FRONT HUB STUDS FOR A 98 HONDA PRELUDE

To remove that hub you will destroy the bearing. Because you have to remove it with a slide hammer. It is not necessary to remove the hub to change the studs. Remove the caliper, caliper bridge and rotor. Using a hammer simply knock out the stud or studs you want to replace. Put new stud in and using a sleeve that has a bigger diameter than the stud (I use a big nut, like the one on the axle) put big nut over stud and screw lug nut on stud and tighten until head of stud is flush with hub. Re-install rotor, caliper bridge and caliper. Hope this helps.

2003 hyundai elantra gls front wheel stud broke

grab a large punch and hammer and knock out the old broken one. Push the new one in and re tighten. This will pull it into place and because it has splines it should not spin while doing so.
