I bought this toshiba laptop computer about two years ago and apparently my internal speakers are gone. I do not have extended warranty so when I took it back to future shop where I bought it and they sold me a set of external speakers. When I asked the technicain how long these internal speakers shud last ...he said its odd that they went as usually they last the life time of the laptop. I really feel that I was sold a dud and I wud like to know what Toshiba has to offer me. I is a top of the line laptop and I paid good money for it.

Did you actually have it examined by a technician or did the sound just stop working one day? An update to an audio driver could have caused this. There is really nothing to go out per se on a pair of notebook speakers.

Go to Toshiba's support site: http://www.csd.toshiba.com/ and click 'download' and choose the correct menus to see the downloads for your notebook. Download the 'Audio Driver' and reinstall it. This might magically fix your problem if your mixer settings got messed up and will only put sound out through the headphone jack.

I have never actually seen notebook speakers just stop working for any reason other than liquid damage or a software issue. Very weird.

Send the computer back for service if its in Warranty.
Try to use the Audio out on the side of the computer. Plug any external speaker into the port. If the sound you hear is the same as what comes rom the speakers then the sound module on the motherboard is defective. If the sound is normal, then the problem is in the wiring to the internal speakers.

Mp450 docking station no sound not charging

It's very likely the wires that go inside were worn out or cut by the internal plastic edges. It happened to mine. I removed the soft plastic at where it rotates and noticed that the wires were cut but the internal plastic edges. If you bought it less than one year ago, Altec is replacing them. If not, check if you got an extended warranty through the store or your credit card company.

The keyboard on my Toshiba laptop suddenly lost the letters T & E function. All the other keys are working. I bought the laptop from Radio Shack 9 months ago. Is there some way to solve the problem?

Nah - not much you can do. The keyboard's gone bad. Most new Toshiba laptops have a year's warranty, so you should call them and have them replace it for free.

Hello, My girlfrend has a problem with her toshiba satelite a305d (i think s6848). She uses win 7 over a year with no problems, and a couple of days ago, sound just stopped working! There is no error...

Did you "minimize" or "mute" the internal speakers?

If not, it's time to take the laptop to a qualified technician, for professional trouble-shooting & repair.

> over a year

Most laptops come with only a one-year warranty.
Is the warranty still valid?
Was an "extended" warranty purchased, either from Toshiba or from the computer-store that sold it to her?
Was it purchased on a credit-card that automatically "doubles" the warranty?

A thin line appears in the display

It could be the video card or the LCD display is going bad. I would suggest contacting HP support regarding this matter. Hopefully you registered it with them when you bought it. Most computers have a one year warranty from the manufacturer. Did you buy an extended warranty with this machine? If you have an extended warranty from the place you bought it, contact them.

Laptop Fan Sounds real Loud.

I would either call HP or if you got th extended warranty and go back to the store and have the take care of the repairs so you don't void the warranty. You can tell them the mousepad is worn out and it won't move the mouse properly and also explain about the overheating problem, both should be covered under warranty.

Toshiba Satellite M30 - Power Problems only boots when in vertical position

These are known to have a grounding problem between the speakers and mainboard - They were actually sued and eventually settled to extend the warranty. unfortunately the special extenstion program ended a few months ago and toshiba no longer will fix this. The workaround is to add shielding to it.

See this link about it:

http://www.laptoprepair101.com/laptop/2006/04/06/satellite-m35x-a70-a75-lockup-freezes-reboots/

If that doesnt fix the problem then you may have motherboard problems and at that point it would be best to part this laptop out and replace it.

Lost Recovery CD's

You can request the cd's from Toshiba, although they will charge, the pics etc will be lost unless they can be retrieved by the warranty company, although they will also charge for that.
