How do I remove the agitator from an old Hoover 2315L?

Agitator itself just slides on splined shaft. At that age it's undoubtedly "growed" on there and isn't going to be easy to pull in all likelihood. Brute force and awkwardness are about the only tools as it's rarely possible to get any leverage in any place that will do any good and the edge of the agitator itself away from the center is generally to weak to use as a pry point, anyway. Some have a removable cap at the top that can either be unscrewed or pried out depending on the make/model -- if so, you can sometimes from that point actually see the splined shaft and get some solvent down there to help. Unfortunately, ime, the "goop" has always signified a transmission shaft seal failure and nothing less than replacing that seal will solve the problem

Try turning the agitator by hand-double check all is free and you have not missed anything-check manual for reset button-some buttons you have to hold down to reset-the manual should tell you how to reset

The wand that connects to the power head at the powerhead connection broke(sheared off) fine crack

Hello,

Unfortunatley the Wand for your Miele is sold as an entirely assembly only. Miele does not sell pieces of this wand separately. In order to fix your wand you'll need to purchase a new wand assembly complete.

The wand on your Miele is the Miele SET210 Wand. Here's a link if you need to purchase one;
http://www.govacuum.com/miele-172.html

I would probably guess that your wand broke off right at the bottom where it connects into the power nozzle. Unfortunately this is the weakest part of the wand as you can probably see. The wand narrows into a thinner plastic here, and I've seen a few wands crack off right on the bottom part.

Please feel free to request a repair clarification if you have any questions about how to repair your vacuum.

On the bottom of the Fantom Fury where it states: & quote; The United States and Canada utility patent....& quote; Now go to the far right end of this statement (the end opposite the spring, well I have a crack in the plastic which, when toggled, moves the entire plastic underside of the vacuum to move. In other words, I think I need an entire bottom plastic plate. The cracked area also makes the foot lever (which lowers or locks the vacuum handle) not work as the crack makes it impossible to work. I know you probably do not know what I am talking about but if you could just tell me where I could purchase the entire plastic plate of the bottom of the vacuum I would be very grateful. As of now, my vacuum cannot be used and I need it to be operational.
Thank you, Charlene H. Minor, Royal Oak, Michigan

Hello,
I would advise you to ALWAYS to FIRST UNPLUG YOUR VACUUM before beginning any service procedure.
If you call you local vacuum cleaner dealer in your area or in the yellow pages, or the Fantom Factory Manufacturer they can either send you the part or parts for the bottom plate or foot release or sometimes the entire base assm depending on what is cracked and broken, I am going to list a couple of places you can get these items, they need the Fantom Model # and color of vacuum and they can ship you the part(s). So if you need further assistance, please feel free to contact your local vacuum cleaner dealer in your area or in the yellow pages, or contact the factory phone number or website to further assist you with your questions.

My belt broke. I have a replacement. I dont know how to install the replacement belt.

There's a plastic cover over the agitator. (the part that should spin, with tough bristles)
Unscrew it. Pull out the agitator. Put the new belt over the 'spinner' (the part that's connected to the motor) and the special pafrt of the agitator. Snap the agitator back into place, making sure it's secure on both sides.
Screw back on the plastic cover.
Wallah!

My Model is a U5465-900 - I need to replace the agitator housing.

I don't seem to be able to find a site with entire replacement parts list. Or a cross reference to the U5465-900 model. It has a 15" agitator. The housing has been "rubbed" through at one side of the agitator and is no longer capable of containing the agitator in the proper position.

Thanks

Fixing my vacuum cleaner

Check to make sure that your agitator still spins. (Agitator = brush). If your agitator still spins, it eliminates your belt and agitator as likely culprits. The last possible solution would be that your vacuum is clogged. The grinding sound might be a motor-related issue or could possibly mean your bearings are going out. Check the bearings of the agitator and the motor of the vacuum.

Accessing to the agitator and belt can be done by removing the bottom cover of your vacuum. There are 2 scews that are holding the bottom cover to the head of the unit. Remove these 2 scews and the bottom cover should snap off.
