Connect the INput of the amp to the TX out of the radio. Connect the OUTput/Ant of the amp to the INput of the meter (SWR/Power). Connect the OUTput of the meter to the cable that leads to the antenna.

With this arrangement, you will be able to measure the SWR of the antenna and power output (of the amp) going to the antenna.

Hope this be of some help/idea. Pls post back how things turn out or should you need additional information.

Good luck and kind regards.

I have a galaxy 959 Cb question is is OK to hook it to my Italy rm7305 10 meter amp?would it improve my power and range???

It will improve your range in transmit but won't do much to help in receiving distant stations. It's also ******* to use an amplifier with CB radio's, so you really might want to think before you use your amp. Make sure that you have a power supply that is large enough to handle the current for both you amplifier and radio. Use #10 or #12 wire for the amp if you are pulling power from more than a couple of feet or so.

How do I measure how many amps my 13 volt power supply is producing for my ham radio

Hi Robert
You'll need a digital multimeter in-line with your circuit.
Set the meter to amps (don't forget to check how to hook up the probes on your meter)

The link below shows you how it's done.

Hope this is helpful.

Meter light and meter does, not work

this is a questionable thing. The radio I am using doesn't have a meter light but the meter works.I don't pay much attention to the meter anyway as I have a Dosy hooked up to it at all times. It will not affect the radio out put or input so you may think of getting a small meter to put in line and leave it at that.

Need to know how to hook a palomar 450 HD to a connex 3300hp

If its in a car or truck use heavy gauge wire to power it. I use a 3ft jumper between the radio and amp. Should use a grounded antenna system. Not a "MAG MOUNT" type. Those can "feed back" rf to your radio and cause problems. If using in the house, a large power supply will be needed.I own a palomar elite 400 hd.It uses every bit of my 30amp power supply. Your hd amp should like the hp radio.

My cb radio is hooked up, has power, my driver amp is hooked up and has power, the linear is hooked up but is yet un powered. I should still be able to send and receive even with it off. all i get is...

you might have a final issue and yes you should be able to talk and receive with the amp hooked up
and not under power. If you bought the radio used beware you don't know what the swr reading was on the last owners setup he could of burnd the final and it will affect your receive go get the radio tested cheap solution.

Hi, my 88 drifts off freq when it warms up. can you help?

  • Is it drifting off frequency by the radios meter or an external meter. If its the radios meter then hook up a meter externally.

Swr meter not moving.

If the radio is working don't worry about the meter unless you absolutely want it. These little meters are not very accurate or reliable. Get an external SWR meter to check the antenna.
