Got new xbox360 my 9 year old starting playing

Turn the xbox on. Let it come up to the welcome screen. Go up one mark(box, frame) where you see a picture of a disc and the game in the same pic. Go all the way to the right where there is a pic of a controller and a xbox. Press A. On the picture of the xbox (this should be the one on top) press A again. Go down 2 clicks then hit A. there should be 2 items on this list. Press A again. sekect english which should be at the very top, but it will say english then press A again. You have succesfully set your system to English.
