I just bout a evga geforce 9400gt 512mb pci
I install the card into the pci slot.Turn on the computer and everthing works ok untill i install the drivers

First of all when i install the drivers in regular windows xp it goes into a black screen with a cursor and gets stuck there

I restart computer and it loads windows up but then finds the 9400gt and install drivers and theres the screen with a cursor again. If i leave the screen with the cursor up for a while eventually the computer starts beeping.

So i uninstalled the drivers in safe mode and reinstall the drivers in safe mode

After i do this i restart the computer into regular windows and now i cant get past the Windows xp loading screen

While loading windows xp it gets stuck and the auto reboots my machine and then i'm just in a cycle untill i go into safe mode or remove the card

At first i thought it was the card so amazon sent me another of the same card.Does the exact same thing with the second card

So now i have 2 evga nvidia geforce 9400gt and now there just useless while i'm using my ati radeon 9250.also yes i uninstalled the ati drivers and intergrated intel drivers before installing the 9400gt

I have a intel celeron 2.66
1.2gb of ram
latest windows xp updates
400w power supply with 12v rail at 26 amp
and pretty upset

can someone please help me

- yea the first thing i did was go to nvidia.com to find my drivers. And also this is not the first time i've installed a video card either.I'm very sure i had the right driver, and i would never use a "scanner". first i tried the drivers from nvidia web site, then i tried the drivers that came with the card, then i tried the drivers that was on evga.com which is the maker of this nvidia geforce 9400gt,all same issue but thanks for trying

- and by the way also tried the oldest drivers on nvidias web page to see if it was a software error still same issue

Oct 24, 2009

- well i know it the intell 845 chipset, dont know wxact what motherboard Its a compaq presario sr1123wm and when windows ask me if i wanted them to find drivers i always tell them no.I've never had this issue with my geforce fx5200,6200,6600 or my current ati radeon 9250. I always tell windows do not find drivers for it When i do that it doesnt give anydrivers for the card therefore i have really bad perfomance on the card I will try it anyways tho just to hope ita work or mark it off the list if you have any more info please share thx

What motherboard is this, or what computer name, model name, and model number. Also, suggest you ALWAYS install the drivers first, THEN the graphics card. Why? Because when you install a hardware device, Windows hurries to find drivers for it. If Windows doesn't find THE drivers for it, it will match up one of it's THOUSANDS of Generic drivers. Now you get a driver conflict, when you do install THE drivers. Graphics card installed first?, you have the wrong drivers matched up.

you may need to update your bios frist because some old motherboards do not support cards up to 128mb or even some motherboards do not support the new pskys of nvidia cards but please for mor expesific help send me the full specs of your system if oem of your system config and tipe of hardware and i will be able to guide further thanks

when you installed the drivers in safe mode, did you disable the onboard video card in device manager. Just a thought off the top of my head.

The two biggest problems in XP is audio drivers and graphics drivers. From a long experience dealing with all kinds of graphics cards and drivers I would say that the driver you are installing is not correct for OS and your card. Not sure what you are using that makes you think it is but I believe it is not. If you are using a driver scanner software then beware. Your best bet is go to here..

..this will give correct driver. This will probably fix BUT keep in mind that the pc beeping means hardware issue, so0o0oo not having the correct driver will also cause this, but usually not with a graphics card or it's driver. Usually this is mobo, ram, hd, etc.
